  1. Convert to D20?

If I was to convert to any gaming system, as far as adding real stats to items and characters, I am thinking the obvious choice would be the D20 system but not sure I should move from pure generic.

For one D20 is open gaming so there are no fears of reprisals for using copyrighted systems. A simple D20 disclaimer is all that is needed on the site basically. For two they have gained a great momentum and following and it would be easy for those using D20 to just grap the stats, and those that are not, the description and effects are all still there so nobody really looses anything but D20 gains.

Been thinking about it for awhile, and will think about it for awhile now but some other ideas on it would be nice.

I've heard of the d20 system, but I don't know any details about how it works. I know it's the roleplaying equivalent of open source, but why is it called d20? Are they the only dice involved?

Grateful if you could let me know,

There are probably better explanations and I will put some links, but in a nutshell it is an open source gaming system put out by Wizards of the Coast. The system is compatible with 3rd Edition and can also be used in pretty much anything else. There are many new products and companies that now use D20, whereas in the old days you were infringing on copyrights by making products and stuff. D20 actually encourages you to make stuff for it and you can sell it or give it away...because the system is open source. All you need to do is put the open gaming license in the product you sell or give away.

All original content can still be copyrighted by the user if they so desire, but the mechanics behind it is free to use. Not sure if I explained it very good.

Right side of the page halfway down is some FAQs explaining it a little better then I could ever start.

I only know the basics about the D20 rule system and everything associated with it. If there is anybody out there who has an excellent grasp of the rules and would like to lend a hand converting stuff to the D20 rules I am planning on making them an option for submissions when the new site is up. If D20 stats are not added to a submission (like all of mine most likely will be) it would be nice if I had a few people that could do some conversions to the system.

Just another thought being thrown out there as I build.
