   Nobody:   I think that there should be a sort of mission statement at the start of Citadel Explained

   Well, perhaps that text is too long. Frankly, I would be happy if we took the text in the intro and put it at the top of Citadel Explained. My eye overlooks the one on the main page without seeing it almost every time. Citadel Explained details HOW everything works, but if you miss the opening in the Main Page, then Citadel Explained actually explains nothing about the site at all.
   
   Here is an Idea of what I think that we should do for Citadel Explained
   
   First, post the mission statement for the entire site.
   Then, explain the general areas of the site, and what they are for and general guidlines for posting.
   
   After that, explain (like it already does), what things like Exp, and other stuff are, always explaining what they are for, and then how they work.
   
   It isn't much work at all, most of it is already done, but if we want to take the greatest advantage of this, then we should really think about the important fundimentals of this site, what it stands for and why people like you and me use it, and then, why it is different (and better) from other sites like it.
   
   I think that the link that you provided gives most of those points rather effectively, but it is also a little long.

   I pretty much agree with all you said. The explanation on the main page needs to stay, it is fine if we end up duplicating it in the Explained Section. Always need something on the frontpage for the first time visitors. It should be the obvious place to go for a first glimpse. If they come in for a link and are at a submission, generally the second place they will visit is "home" and look there for an immediate answer to "what is this place".
   
   But you are right that the explained page needs to really explain better.
   
   Question I have is about the general areas of the site. Should, instead of putting the descriptions of each section in the explained, we have a "Site Map" or similiar thing? A Table of Contents of sorts that explains all the sections. This page could get rather large unless we stick to the top categories...and sticking with only them, well they are pretty much self explanatory. But if we go into the subcategories then that is an exponential increase in content.
   
   So maybe we should think about breaking it up a little bit more for readabilities sake.
   
   - Maybe take all the disclaimer stuff and make that a seperate page that is linked from a small link in the footer.
   
   - What is left in there is mostly instructions on how the site mechanics work. So maybe not Citadel Explained but Citadel Mechanics or something. This would be pretexted by the general guidelines for posting.
   
   -Then another page that does the Site Page type thing that explains the general areas of the site.
   
   Mission statement could probably be blockquoted at the top of each of those things.
   
   I see the need for a change. Just don't know how far to go.

   I second that, when I first saw this site, It took a while to figure out what it was all about. A simple "About" link next to "Home" would pretty much sort the problems, and it is the first place your eyes go to when looking for info.
