Lost comments
#1Some strange occurences have been puzzling me as of late.
I read most of what appears on the site and lately I have found that comments have been disappearing. I could not put my finger to it, until lately, when I discovered that Aerdrie Faenya's comment to my Angaoth lifeform was gone.
I have noticed missing comments in other locations too, though I have not the time to rediscover those.
The comments that are missing are usually the one with the highest vote on that submission. Is it the user Aerdrie that has disappeared, or is someone deleting comments, or is it a bug? -
Re: Lost comments
#2It seems the user Aerdrie Faenya has been deleted from the DB, while her husband, Deranged Elf, still remains.
They were two separate users even though they shared IP... I hope no admin deleted them. :o
Anyhow: Is it not a flaw that all comments and items are deleted alongside the user?
(Or did she decide not to attend our glorious site and delete all traces of her existence?) -
Re: Lost comments
#3Well, I left her untouched. Knew well of their situation.
And, no, If they are deleted, there stuff would not be deleted with them. Actually, I think if the user was deleted then the submissions and comments are still there, but they wouldn't come up in any queries because a rule of the query would be to match a person in the database. No match for a user in the database would mean no match for a comment and/or submission.
To get back those submissions we just need to figure out what her ID was and put in a 'dummy' account to bring them back. -
Re: Lost comments
#4Well then... She probably joined right about the time Deranged Elf did
And this case is the text book example of "sometimes shared IP doesn't mean anything at all". :hyper: -
Re: Lost comments
#5The question we ask is why this all occured? -
Re: Lost comments
#6No idea.
I did some looking and I found a comment I posted (she wrote the sub on the brothel right?) and found that it was 2238. It is indeed gone.
The author retains all permissions and control over their submissions and account, so if she decided to delete it then that is her prerogative. That is my thought. Changed her mind about the place perhaps?
Edit(AG): added a letter -
Re: Lost comments
#7A shame then. Her ratings were in the mid range and got a bit of flak for being "uber". She did not agree to the critics.
*Case solved*
