A new type of magic
#1It is known fact that humans generate energy. My question is, what if we could harness that energy? Imagine characters with the power to heal others with their bio-energy, or release a deadly ball of energy? It wouldnt be elemental, and it wouldnt be a conventonal sort of magic. I just dont know what else some one could do with the power. I've only got the two ideas mentioned aboved. Can anyone help me with find more ways to make this 'bio-magic' useful and unique? -
Re: A new type of magic
#2If you are going to use bio-magic a good place to look if you'd like actual text on it is the Rifts RPG books. They have entire chapters on bio-wizardry. For your original idea of harnessing your own personal energy it's called hundreds of different things by hundreds of different cultures (i.e. harnessing your chi energy) but expand it. Every living and unliving thing generates a certain type of energy. Let your bio-mages learn to harness the energy of everything around them. The down side of that is that they will have to learn not to over drain anything around them or there are obvious consequences (i.e. draining the life out of there environment, party members, npcs, etc...). If you take a scientific approach to it... scientific law states that energy will never dissipate or dissappear it keeps going and changes into other things but it's still energy. give them the ability to release the energy back into whatever they took it out of once they are done using it for whatever purpose.
OK I could go on and on on this topic for days so if you need anymore help with it let me know, K? -

#3The forums is for the more directed questions and sticky points, not vague generalities. (Check out the Read Me on the top of this forum area).
If you want to create a bio wizardry or chi based magic system, why don't you think about your parameters and what you want to accomplish, pile them into a post, and change the submission option (after the standard, codex, scroll, that pull down menu) from normal to working (request advice), then we will all work on it with you. Magic systems would be a system mystical general kind of post.
