Hey, Santa, is it too late for me to wish for some Citadel improvements?

I find the scrolls hard to read. The boxes are so compacted it discourages further exploration.

Could we please get some space between the user post boxes? A few pixels ought to do the trick...

Will play with this a little tomorrow. Today I have to be in windows and I have moved my developement to Linux. Yeah!!! One of my New Year Resolutions!

Now that we talk about Scrolls... some people seem to have a bit problem with submitting posts to scrolls, so we should make it more user-friendly. For instance, there is no need for a Submit_Scroll button if the submission is no scroll at all.

Also, the two submit buttons are not very intuitive... how about a checkbox for submitting into a scroll (not present if it is no scroll, of course)?

Or call the button "Submit into Scroll" or "Submit as Scroll", and place it _next_ to the ordinary submit button (with the small note that you can't vote in a scroll). Add sufficient space in-between so no mistakes happen. Point is to have them both on a single line. Also could rename the "Submit" into "Submit comment".

Or, use a radio button to switch between a scroll and normal comment, hiding the Votes if necessary.

    Or...?

We need to do something about the submitting part... it really feels counter-intuitive, or at least unwieldy.

Radio buttons avoid the confusion of accidentily posting the wrong thing in the wrong place. And if there was no radio button for non scrolls, so much the better.

(You could roll the suggested link and codice entry into the radio button list, that way everything is consistant.)

I personally do not have an issue with the spacing. I would like scrolls and codices to have "pages", 5 to 20 to 99 posts per page, per the user's listing. This make reading and locating things in larger scrolls and codices easier, giving breaks and "landmarks".

Good points, all of them. Will see what I can do.

Only thing I don't really don't like the sound of is splitting up a scroll. Think that would really be worth it?

Let me play with the formatting for those a little bit. Perhaps the stringent table/box is a little too boxy or something. Would an entire new display method solve the problem? Ideas/linked examples from other places on a nice formatting for them?

Splitting up a scroll? Well, I think it might be appropriate (perhaps) if and only if the scroll becomes huge and unwieldy.

Right now I think the scroll is okay on low resolution screens and a punch in the face on big resolution ones. With the scrolls being that compacted, my desire for reading comes to a violent death.

Made a few changes as requested. I opted against the radion button for the time being because a) there are only two options b) I would have to rewrite a good bit of code for the variable catching and it doesn't seem worth it to me.

If you still think we need to change it up some more I am all ears!! Let me know what you want me to do with it.

Still trying to figure out how to make them more readable. I tried it without the table borders, extra spacing, and variable in between and it got worse, in my opinion. So we might need a new structure of some sort for it maybe. One that will make the comment replies more formatted as manfred has been wanting. With the tables as they are, you just can't line them up intuitively without deepening the tables more and more and tables pretty much suck. Heavy to render and bloat the code text exponentially.

    Suggestions welcomed and begged for.

Ummm... I don't really think THIS is that much more readable. Well readable may be, but it looks... :penguin:

I say I must agree with manfred here. Might you make the spacing a little less imposing?

What that is exactly what AG wanted. More spacing. ;)

That must be an odd leftover in the scroll code. That was my test bed and I thought I put it back.

I think it is unfixable. Best I can do is make the spacing about double what that is.
