The S.A.S. (Strolen Appreciation Society)
#1At the back of the great feasting hall, a wizard stand up. He's obviously a wizard because he is wearing two blue, starry hats, one for each head. His two beards mingle and braid like twisted tree-roots and drag his two chins down a little so that his mouths are slightly agape.
"Strolen!" he yells, "When I first arrived in this Citadel five years ago I was impressed by it. The decor was grand, the mead good and the ideals underpinning the place were extremely commendable. And it's done nothing but get better since. Such a dynamic and creative community has never seen as integrated and cohesive an incarnation as we have now, as a result of your hard work over recent months. It is truly a feat of great magical architecture. So I should like to propose a toast, to Strolen, for his deep magics in building this place, and to Kate for her skillful tapestry which weaves the pages into a laudable and beautiful Citadel."
He raises two goblets to his lipses, and then sits again.

Re: The S.A.S. (Strolen Appreciation Society)
#4While bored at work one night, I was just randomly searching for game related fonts. I stumbled over the old site and followed the link here (version 1.0). I thought, "Okay, kind of neat". I went into the forums and posted a couple of times. I found an idea that sounded cool and worked on it in my head. I came back that next night and posted it. I tinkered with some other things, and posted those the next night. The cycle continued. And pretty much, I have been here once a day since 03/17/03, and have averaged 1.5 posts/ submissions/ significant edits a session since then.
I got to be a moderator and an admin by just doing what came naturally, working on idea, being helpful and balanced in approach, having a sense of organization and continuity, and doing what I could to make where I was a better place.
How it happened both times is kind of funny, "Strolen, why is my name a funny color?". We can do that story later.
Sure, there are time Strolen wants to pull his hair out (or is that pull my hair out) when I start making suggestions. But it is only because he has made a place that I can care about that I do it. So golf claps all around. Now when do we get to roast him... errrr... get to the rubber chickens.
