What kind of in game events do you prefer?
#1I have conducted a small investigation of what my Coldforged gamers prefer, but thought I could extend this to everyone (also those CF players who have yet to answer it). Open for all, come cast your vote.
So: What kind of in game events do you prefer?
List them from best to worst. :)
1. Dialogue & Plot investigation
2. Combat
3. Magic Rituals (divinations, summoning, enchantment, construct creation, cursing, and so on)
4.Stealth, stealing and burglary
5.Problem Solving & Puzzles
6. Travel and landscape (Cinematic detailing of landscapes, both indoors and outdoors, travel through the lands and dungeons & Random events)
7.Camp & Tavern life. Trivial fun at inns and in the wilderness
8. Hunting and stalking prey
9. Exercising different crafts (Forging normal / magic swords, gathering herbs & making herbal potions, buying minerals & creating alchemical potions, crafting bows, making arrows, inscribing runes on scrolls and stone tablets, etc...)
FYI: This is not my preferred sequence. I will remain silent about that a bit longer -

If puzzle solving was defined more towards mystery/plot solving it would rank higher. Puzzles means single serving challenges to me. -

Yeah. The categories were made on the spot as I was chatting with Roack, Manfred and Chaosmark. I liked the idea, but kept the rough genres as 3 had already answered using those genres. Right now mystery and plot solving kinda sorts under dialogue / plot. -

#9Actually, SE has it right on the head there. I also like the suspence and unknown aspects of the world. It gives it flavor. -

#10Not to seem like a bandwagoner, but I think horror/tension would also be #1 or #2 for me, as well. -

Re: What kind of in game events do you prefer?
#131.Tension/Suspense
2. Stealth and everything stealth related
3. Combat
4. Dialogue and Plot investigation.
5. Puzzle Solving
6.Camp and Tavern Life
7.Everything else.
Basically, I thrive on high tension, high danger scenarios where you never really are sure what will happen next. The City Underground Society is obviously ideal for such a thing. In such a scenario, I get to plot and scheme and figure out the dozens of ways to ensure that I always have a back door to any situation.
Obviously however, all catagories are subject to change based on DM skill in a particular area. -
