#1MoonHunter sayeth: I have a number of articles and tips for you to read about the fine art of GMing. The basics from any game books will give you an idea of how to do it.

To be honest, GMing a Forum game is very different from running a table top game. Forum RPGs are all about control and writing. So seach some out fiction writing advice AND try to keep all your players on the "same page" by the use of reference threads (listing all your world entries, important NPCs, and other somesuch.) Forum RPGs are all about plot and storytelling.
Recomended reading: Story: Substance, Structure, Style and The Principles of Screenwriting by Robert McKee "Imagine, in one global day, the pages of prose turned, plays per , films screened, the unending stream of television comedy and drama, twenty-four-hour print..."
Communication is the key. Get your player's emails. Communicate with them. Find out their likes, dislikes, and schedules. Work with them and you will not be disappointed.
