    Another WTF moment coming up:

Why does Michael write about the barbarians retreating when in your last post, AG, they were clearly approaching us?

    Huh? :what:

Well, as each player, and the GM, posts, time passes in the game. Mike's post was valid, based on a pm I sent him. This pm was based on his skills, his heritage, his character.

You all got private messages. Some were trivial, some were not. It was chrome, flavour, as well as a method to give you all character specific information. I love to give my players personal information based on their skills and background. This comes as quests, information (like in this case) and so on. I have used this approach with great success for the last ten years. It is a part of something called the character weave. I weave each character into the storyline, give you all information based on your skills. Each of you will also encounter personal quests, personal struggles, personal intrigues. In this case, Mike's warrior got info you others did not. This he was kind enough to tell you.

The barbarians are indeed retreating as they were indeed approaching a minute ago. They have clearly just begun their retreat. Why this is so, is a matter better left for you guys to guess or perhaps you already know the answer? I think you do...

Thank you for asking the question. I know the prologue is a bit confusing. It is meant to be so. Your characters are hurled into a mess you don't know how to handle, and you don't know wtf is going on. This is the prologue. This mess is the hell your characters have been plunged into.

An answer will be forthcoming. In game.

    Play on.

I wanted to notify you early that in the times ahead I will do a lot of travelling and moving. I WILL keep posting, but not as frequently as before. But I think I will manage to keep within the three day limit thingy.
If not, I will also accept my penalty

But don't worry, there is a chanse you won't even notice it.

    Okay:
You guys are within the forest. You are 20-30 minutes fast march from where the mercenary main force abandoned Marcus and Turedon during their summoning.

Thus we have three groups: The player rear guards, Marcus and Turedon and the mercenary main force.

I used a cliche for effect somewhere within the tale, enjoy :p, and I want to underline that the summoned beast of Marcus's is indeed DEAD and not the horror he is thinking about.

FYI: I'll also answer in game questions you guys want answered, by pm, in the chat or in the OOC thread. Only questions that you may know the answer to will be answered.

FYI pt. 2: I have used the prologue to learn your preferences and adapt somewhat to your wishes. That is why I have asked so many questions of you, but that will stop when we enter Chapter 1; Ûr-Keldon. If there is anything you want me to know about or change: Now is the time to say so.

FYI pt. 3: I am having fun and enjoy having you guys as players, Good work guys!

Concerning the GM roleplaying of NPCs:
Some NPCs might seem... extreme... Such as the pleasure slave you are talking to right now. It is not some low class horndog acting going on, but a purpose and a logic behind the way I play her. You will probably meet even more extreme persons, as well as normal people. This is an age of slavery, prostitution, zealots, decadent and haughty nobility and possessed beings, as well as more present day insanity such as madmen, junkies, murderers and rapists. There IS a majority of normal people though (kind of normal), so you won't be trapped in a nuthouse... Well, not ALL the time :)

Players: Please post in sequence, but I, as GM, will reply to all questions as soon as a player has posted it (even out of my sequence). This is to keep the game smooth and flowing.

Domunsoka/CaptainPenguin: I realize it is difficult for you to partake in dialogues. Please do follow the dialogue anyhow, Domunsoka DOES understand what is being said, you know :)

Come chapter 1 a remedy for your predicament will be in place. It will not ruin the character development scheme you presented.

AG going on a biking vacation today:
I am going to be bicycling for one or two weeks, travelling the small county roads of the counties known as Vestfold and Telemark.

I will have access to computers but I cannot enforce the 3 day limit on you guys during this period. Now I love a good whippin' of my players, but I am afraid you guys will get away with your wicked ways for a while.

Please be responsible and keep the game running anyhow... Cap... Alec... Mike and Echo...

    One other thing:
In the post where Solstara is explaining what you guys are doing in the mountains... You can assume she told you all the things she was thinking about as she ran through the forest. Not the details of her miserable life, but at least you know that it has not been easy for her. More importantly, she has told you all about Marcus.

As for Dumonsoka - try the way of Ranma's father - signs with a handle :D

As for me - I have arrived in Germany healthy and whole, though the i-net connection is dial-up. Oh the terror!
  11. [Coldforged] Shadows of War

    #51
C'mon, man- I been living with dial-up for years!
  12. [Coldforged] Shadows of War

    #52
Dial-up is the spawn of Satan and will be destroyed when the new world order arrives!!!
  13. [Coldforged] Shadows of War

    #53
I have been without internet for some days, though I am now back in civilized areas and will soon post in the game.

    Dial Up must burn!

    Broadband to the penguin!

    Dictionary:
Keldon: The old name of the royal line of Ardamien. The King of Silmar has some Keldon blood in his veins, but it is thin indeed.

Keldon is also the name of several places and Ûr-Keldon is the name of the Keldon family's place of origin.

The mountain you are climbing, Mount Keadle, was formerly known as Mount Keldon, though that truth is not known to your characters and only mentioned for reference.

Bluethon; An ancient civilization, long since dead. Mechanical wonders can be found from that civilization, as well as fabulous feats of alchemy and metal processing.

Shimrakhan: (Not known to the players); Old Bluethon City

Explanation will be provided on demand, though not everything (such as the Covenant of Keldon) can be explained at this point in the story.

The end of the prologue is upon us. If you all participate, the introduction will soon be over with and the game will begin in earnest. The game will be totally up to you guys from that point and my role will be reduced.

There might be short interludes akin to the prologue in the future, but the game will become a conventional forum game from chapter 1.

So my players I urge you to post, post and post even more. Let the grand opening of the game begin.

My fingers itch... This is taking too long. I want to kill somebody. Kill somebody... Kill. Kill. Kill.

Heck, I'd better finish you all.

I really shouldn't be posting here after drinking

Sunday CET, I'll kill all of your PCs.
  17. [Coldforged] Shadows of War

    #57
    Well? Bring it on, then.
  18. [Coldforged] Shadows of War

    #58
Sorry, I got blasted off the net. A week without network has gone by now and well... I'll get started soon.
  19. [Coldforged] Shadows of War

    #59
    Okay the Prologue is finished.

!!!!!Read it BEFORE reading the following!!!!!

Spoilers ahead, read the ending of the prologue before you read the following:

The first chapter will start with you awaking after the battle. Your characters will be... changed.

Each of you have the following choice that you can answer OOC. Either your spirits agree to being bound by the covenant of Keldon, or you do not. Death might be a result of not agreeing to the covenant.

    Simply said:
If you want to continue the game, you agree with the covenant and the signs of power are grafted onto you, as well as a body part in the case of Domunsoka.

If you want to quit the game your character disagrees and dies from the Demi-God inflicted wounds upon your body.

Those who continue will awaken as beings of power, bound by the covenant and facing many restrictions, but also gifted with amazing abilities and powers which will gradually evolve as the characters learn to use them.
  20. [Coldforged] Shadows of War

    #60
    I will sign the Covenant.
  21. [Coldforged] Shadows of War

    #61
    Wait, what the hell?
    Sharee summoned the thing?
    What was the thing?
Was the "presence" the same as the thing?

I guess I'll "join the covenant", 'cuz I don't want to stop playing. :)
  22. [Coldforged] Shadows of War

    #62
    Okay. So. Huh.

    I mean, huh. Yeah.

What did I summon? How? If it does have such a long tongue, I'd have other uses for it, not killing people. Anyway, huh?
If you mean the 'come forth darling' phrase, I thought it was obvious that it was an ironic statement, uttered by a soldier in anticipation of an attack, who does not want to wait any longer.

    So.

I guess HUH??? sums it up nicely.

The choice presented has, like, a whole bunch of possible answers. I cannot pick from amongst the plethora of possibilities! I guess I will choose a simple YES, though i don't know to what I said yes. So what.

    Yes.

    But one matter remains still:
    huh?

Like, i did not get more than a half of your last IC post.

    Huh.
  23. The dangers of providing information you do not know....

    #63
    Sharee summoned the thing?
-->Yes, in a way, because it reacted to her spellcasting and like a moth to the flame it became drawn to her. That was why it was so obsessed about her,

    What was the thing?
-->The thing "was" the covenant of Keldon. The greatest warrior who was chosen many, many centuries ago for his bravery, loyalty and nobility, In the end something changed it, though the presence within Sharee did not know why.

Was the "presence" the same as the thing?
--> No. The Presence was the the Witch of Keldon, an eternal counterpart to the covenant. She is now bound to all those who are part of the covenant. She is your mother, your achilles heel, your everything. If she gets a cold, you all will sneeze. Ohhh: She will not be your only achilles heel. (remember the leaf she tore while she was possessing Sharee).

Are we really privy to this information?
--> Between the prologue and the first chapter a small amount of time pass, maximum two days, and you will dream of past and present, even of the future. Much will be known to you and all this will come to your knowledge. I expect to write a kick arse introduction to the first chapter (and not a journal entry as will be usual) about your transformation and your dreams.

btw: A covenant is a signed agreement (biblical references). I know that Captain. But here it is so much more. It is the manifestation of the agreement. You are the agreement. It will be written and signed on your bodies.

Concerning the covenant, the transformation and your future selves: You will learn much between now and the first entry of Chapter 1, but realize that many of your future powers will be gradually awakening. There will be commandments, laws, contigencies and boosts.

You have been granted a reprieve from the confusion and I hope to make much clear for you, but an essential piece of this campaign will be confusing because deeper layers of the onion exist. Layers you do not know of (but you are welcome to guess. Remember that many, many, many players have yet to enter the stage).

    Mmmm.. Good. Thank you. :)
  25. [Coldforged] Shadows of War

    #65
There is an opening in the game:
Do you want to play in the Coldforged Game? The pleasure slave from the prologue is available for play, though she is now severely maimed by the Covenant beast and has gotten the beasts facial tattoos and skin grafted upon her facial flesh. Thus she is now hideous and broken.

In the event that any non-players read and enjoy this game: This is your chance.
  26. [Coldforged] Shadows of War

    #66
Concerning the first chapter of the Campaign:
Mike has not posted in a very long time and if he is going to be absent for one year, like the last time he disappeared, I'd rather not have him along. Dietrich could be played by someone else, though I hope Mike returns.

I will wait with the first chapter until:
    1. You understand your situation and your ties to the Covenant of Keldon.
    2. Mike lets us know he is alive OR two weeks have passed. If two weeks pass and we still hear nothing, I am going to try to recruit some replacements for him.

    Kickarse.

I'm ready when the rest of us are.
  29. Vaguely amusing...

I have now met, in a single day, all those involved in this RP within the chat at some point or another. The only exception remains as Michael, but since he's the wildcard anyways, no worries.

As one of you is unawares, I'll state it here for the public record. I intend to join the RP when Chapter 1 starts, and I hope none of you mind. So far Alec, AG have welcomed me, and so I wish to tell those else of you involved, heyla, thanks for having me around.

    Scene Journals and Interludes:
It has come to my attention that CaptainPenguin and ChaosMark has discussed Scene Journals ©MoonHunter.

Scene journals would be created in a separate thread and are more than okay with me. I will not GM such threads, but I may certainly elect to perform one or more NPCs within these threads.

Interludes are much like Scene Journals, though they are multi-perspective (like the Prologue), GMed, and describe, for instance, major spellcasting*. Of course interludes may be about other things, for instance events which shed light on the current plot. This will benefit the players if not always the PCs. I trust in your abilities and no one has acted upon this information thus far. Other uses for interludes might be extremely short encounters unrelated to any of the chapters.

    * (I follow the philosophy that major magic make for quality roleplaying, and even minor magic is worth a decent description (thanks to Echo, yet the only one to have cast a spell, for excellent work in this regard))

Here is a proposition for naming conventions:
    Interlude 1: Blahblah
    Interlude 2: Blahblah

    aaaand:

Scene Journal 1: Domunsoka 20 years ago, awakening for the first time.
Scene Journal 2: Love flares between Sharee and Flare (Ooh la la)

and so on... Just my two cents worth
  33. A few thoughts...

    #73
    ...On scene journals of course.

    1) we each get our own separate thread marked with the insignia to use for our journals, if we're so inclined.
    2) we all use the same thread for our journals, because only rarely do we make them and we don't want to waste forum space.
    3) we start with option number two, then go to option number one if the idea catches on.

    Thoughts and comments?

For the sake of keeping the moderated section clean:
Could an admin, that means you CP, move the prologue to the freeform archive? I am planning (somewhat optimistically) on more than ten chapters, perhaps more than twenty (years and years of playing) and I do not want too much clutter .

    Schedule:
Sometime on thursday, CET -> Private message to all players will be sent. This Private Message includes entirely new tatto-caused abilities and general information about commandments, abilities and curses available at the time (You will learn more and more as the story progresses).

Sometime on saturday, CET -> The first chapter of the campaign is begun and the game is open for all the players, including Maggot and Chaosmark, provided they still are interested in the game. Maggot will play Solstara, the hapless pleasure girl.

    Maggot and Alec Shadowkin:
General background information will be sent along with the thursday pm. You can pick and choose among what you get, but Maggot has to cope with some unchangable background.

    Mike:
The body of Dietrich will be missing in action. It might reappear should Mike do so.

    CaptainPenguin:
Domunsoka will be greatly changed by the agreement to the Covenant. More info will be forthcoming on saturday.

    EchoMirage and Chaosmark:
Sharee will regain control of her body and Chaosmark will be introduced in the opening sequence.

I am indade still interested, and I've actually gotten most of what AG wished for me to do finished, thanks to alot of time today where I had nothing needing doing. I also found myself a net connection for the time being, so I might try and PM AG some of the stuff, I might not.

Just letting the world know I'm alive. G'day.

The private messages are being written and will be sent one by one through the night. This is the order in which I send them:

    EchoMirage.........Finished
    Maggot..............Finished

    The alphabet rules :)

Edit: It got too late. Got to continue this tomorrow.
