#1Demons and Devils and Fiends, Oh my!!
Cheka and I were talking the other night and got onto the topic of demons, due to a plot twist my players will soon discover in the game I run. We started imagining new and different types of infernal fiends. He suggested seeing if anyone had a thread for this type of thing and, since I didn't notice one, I decided to create it. Give all the demons, devils and other evil creatures you can imagine. To start everything off, here's one I created for my campaign:
anoitos daimonas
This manipulative creature is usually underestimated. When in it's natural form, it has huge feet, big ears and almond shaped purple eyes. It's skin is a sickly grey color and not a single hair is to be found on its entire body. All, in all, the "silly demon" is a rather gooy looking individual. This is, however extremely misleading. They have shapeshifting ability, though only to humanoid forms and the palms of their hands contain glands which secrete a minor sedative poison, designed to pacify their opponent for later use.
This creature is clever, to the point where it is said by scholars that they could talk a god into mortality. Their intelligence is all but unsurpassed. Their most common trick is for one to travel to a mortal plane, then shift into a common form, integrating itself into a dominant society. It will then do what it can to ingraciate itself with a leader of some sort, a greedy and corruptable individual with which it will sign a pact. It will agree to work with the corrupt individual, giving it power, granting demonic grafts and abilities. In exchange it will live as it chooses, dining on expensive and rare foods, relishing in the uses of drugs and alcohol, all fully paid by the individual it makes its pact with.
In reality this monstrous being has a much more sinister goal in mind. It will slowly turn the government of it’s official xenophobic, instilling within them an irrational hatred of all races their own. It will wait, letting the race destroy all enemies, then it will bring a small army of it’s own through, lesser demons filled with a bloodlust. The remaining race will be annihilated and the demons will have control of this world. The anoitos is very good at what it does, rarely failing in it’s goals. It is intelligent, clever and all but unstoppable, despite its ridiculous appearance. -

#2Lavas, the Raging Ones
The word lavas, which is both singular and plural, is Bastard Demonspeak (a bastardized combination of Demonspeak and Atlantean which sorcerors utilize to converse with demons), and comes from these creatures' actual name in the language of demons, tjhazhv's, which means "one having/containing rage" or "raging one".
Lavas stand about 6 feet tall, on average, and have thick, heavy limbs and stocky bodies covered in shimmering golden scales with sharp serrated edges which constantly scrape against each other, making an angry clatter which the Raging Ones use to speak. Their heads emerge directly from their shoulders and resemble thorny piles of sharp golden flakes with three smouldering pairs of crimson eyes. They have no mouths. Their backs are surmounted by huge, fin-like golden wings.
The filthy claws of Lavas are deadly poisonous, and they sharpen them every day on the shouts of furious warriors. Their glances can cause small objects and creatures to burst into flame. Focusing too long on the clattering golden scales of Lavas can cause one to become mesmerized, for they are polished with the stolen beauty of young harlots.
The Lavas are animalistic warrior-demons who converge in packs like lice on the inconceivable walls of Hell. Because their masters, the Hjhaztyakujhihesh'mish-Ahjnujh, the 19 Lords Clad In Lightning, have denied them the love of their demonic wives, the hzhetyukshaazh's, the Inviting Spider Ones, the Raging Ones are constantly angry and raging. The eldest among them have become so angry at lacking the sinuous sexual attentions of their wives that they are no longer even intelligent, and behave as horribly powerful animals. However, most Lavas channel their rage into becoming terribly skilled warriors, and a single Lavas can slay entire divisions of crack troops simply by swooping overhead and shedding its razor-sharp scales. Raging Ones greatly enjoy killing, but, strangely, they fear rotting and dead things, and flee from battlefields and graveyards as soon as they can (or as soon as they are finished killing).
Lavas love the taste of warm corn-paste, especially if flavored with blood, and it is with these sacrafices, as well as paintings and tales of their wives, that they can be appeased. Lavas do not have individual names- they are referred to, in Bastard Demontongue, as yshalcas, "honorable one". -

#3Seyeverasin, the Waning-Moon Musicians
Seyeverasin, in Bastard Demontongue, comes from the Demontongue shzhvyer'siim, "moon-players". They are the sons of the demon Itzhi Pezh, the Man In The Moon, and because they have angered him, they appear only when he has turned his face aside.
Seyeverasin are tall, thin, and mahogany-skinned, with the handsome looks of a Summer Lands prince. Their eyes are pale blue, like the moon reflecting on water, and are eerily bright even in dark places. On each hand they have twelve long, exquisitely delicate fingers with too many joints to be human. They cannot speak, because they have no tongues, but if they must communicate, their body language and hand gestures are preternaturally communicative, as if they were speaking. All Waning-Moon Musicians wear thin kilts of a pearly, gossamer cloth through which their otherworldly genitals are clearly visible.
Itzhi Pezh, the Man In The Moon, fathered 341 of the Seyeverasin when he descended to look upon the sleeping Z'hazhmietyokh'hisht, the Feather-Clad Empress of Unrestrained Passions. Awaking to find the Man In The Moon watching her, Z'hazhmietyokh'hisht cast off her gossamer sleeping robe and made love to him. He was so surprised that he struck her, and the drops of blood which fell from her lip formed the Waning-Moon Musicians. Itzhi Pezh became angry, for in Hell one must pay a tax of 1,000 anguished screams to Its Shadowed Resplendency for each progeny one sires- to this day, Itzhi Pezh is still angry, for he has still not collected enough screams to pay the tax. Thus, whenever the Man In The Moon sees one of his hated children, he destroys it with a ray of moon-lightning. To avoid his angry gaze, the Seyeverasin come out only when Itzhi Pezh has turned his face aside from the world; this is why they are called the Waning-Moon Musicians. The Seyeverasin are supernaturally excellent musicians- no other can play a cello as well as them, and when the moon wanes, one may hear their haunting phantom strains echoing about night-time mountain cliffs, by dark pools, and in places where mortals no longer go or have never gone. If they discover that their playing is being listened to by mortals, they take up their playing-bows as weapons and attack with blinding speed while they weep in shame at having been heard, for they believe that they play very poorly. Seyeverasin fear the darkness cast by tree-shadows and are repulsed by roots, which they fear will grow up into their smooth dark flesh. Thus, they are rarely seen in places of verdant vegetation or where there are many trees.
Their music has the power to cause any who hear it to become mesmerized, and the captured aftertones of their celloes can be inverted to make painful dissonance which slays even the strongest of men. Their blood is a deadly poison which has no cure- it causes those who ingest it to be burned by moonlight.
Seyeverasin enjoy drinking great quantities of watered-down red wine, flavored with butter and saffron. In addition, they are delighted by the sound of a rough stone scraping across bare muscle, especially human muscle. They cannot resist a gift of a cello, especially one which has been oiled with blood or bile. -
A Demon from each category: lesser, minor, major, & gre
#4Chitterlings Lesser These are little flying balls of teeth. They have no apparent sensory organs, but can sense life and sentience unerringly. They are unhindered by gravity or fluid. That is, they can strike no matter how high you climb or how deep you swim. Chitterlings have a limited duration in the material world. Generally, they only attack once or twice before destroyed. A chitterling's goal is to attack the first thing it senses, without regard to its safety or other consequences. They are essentially mindless, knowing only an all-consuming rage.
Gremlins Minor: These Demons love technomancy the way a fat kid loves a Twinkie. Gremlins can travel about in spiritual form, but are limited to only sensing life and technomancy, and must Manifest before they can jinx equipment. Their special joy is causing the greatest possible malfunction. This is something that they are more than willing to put themselves in harm's way to accomplish. They are small, bald, and bluish-green.
The Librarian Major: This Demon is the chief librarian of Citadel. He is fully proficient with any spell involving glyphs, circles, symbols, or words of power. He is also a studious reader, having read many of the tomes in that vast library of arcane lore. The Librarian appears as a large (9' tall), blue, muscular, steer-horned man, with cloven hoves and reading glasses. Volgor makes him wear clothes.
Xull Greater: Forget stats, this Demon doesn't register on the same scale. Once one of Azat's minions, he is now rumoured to be working for Stryfe, or perhaps is simple a sort of mercenary for other Greater Demons. Xull is noted as being a master tempter, and an unparelleled administrator. Xull is depicted typically as a large mass of giant earthworms (several inches in diameter each), but like all Demons of this calibre, he can assume any form he wants.

The Gahol
#5This insidious creature is gifted with the ability to assume the form of either an alluringly beautiful man or woman with charms that none can resist. When it seduces a mortal of the opposite sex into copulating with it,it imbues the unfortunate mortal with it's progeny. The little Gahol develops in the unsuspecting's mortal's body for five days until it finally emerges out of the unfortunate's person's chest, killing him or her. It is utterly loyal to it's parent and nutures him with some of it's own energy through a psychic umbilical cord when it feeds on the passion and lust generated by it's victim during the act of copulation. The stronger and more passionate the act of love making, the greater the energy leached.
The Gahol itself has no sex and in its true form,is a gruesome looking creature that resembles nothing so much as a giant slug with 5 thin spidey limbs that end in hooked claws. In some primitive cultures, the Gahol are worshipped as gods of fertility since it is believed that they bless the farms and livestock of their victims and bring good fortune to those that their dead mortal lovers leave behind. They are so revered that some of them have even become god-kings who ensure plenty for their people in return for dedicated clerics who make the ultimate act of sacrifice by serving as the incubation vessels for the Gahol's spawn. The most famous of them was the Gahol,Halso the Handsome, slain by warriors of a rival Gahol king.
Gahol are extremely vain and never allow themselves to be seen in their true form. Some scholars say that the Gahol are so ashamed of their true form that if seen in it by any mortal, they will drop dead of utter embarassment. Their false beauty means a lot to them and they will do everything in their power to ensure that none find out the truth behind the dazzling masks they wear. They are also huge ego animals and are easily flattered by any kind of praise, especially that which is showered on their precious beauty. -
Ortsov demons
#6Ortsov demons do not seem much of a threat, being three feet tall..They have greenish goblinoid skin and funny looking snowshoe sized webbed feet. Their favourite habitat is boggy ground next to rivers. Whilst their normal food is fruit, raw fish and plants, they are happy to eat humans. Their normal tactic in a battle situation is to lure their attacker into a marsh or anywhere where they can bog them down, and then up to twenty of them will attack with retractable claws and fangs, that leave infected wounds that,if not properly treated, can sometimes go gangrenous. They then eat the person they have killed, taking anything worth stealing, and making things out of the bones, like cups, pipes, and weapons.
They were driven from their own realm a long time ago by Greater Demons, and miss it greatly. We may think of demonic beings as living in Hell, but of course it is not hellish to them any more then our world is hellish to us. They have a hatred and fear of Greater Demons because of this.
They love singers with good voices and will sometimes not kill a good singer. They both admire and fear magic.Amongst their own kind they can and do fall in love, and although evil towards other creatures, evil towards their own kind is not common. -
A minor and a major Demon
#7Minor-Spammlins Spammlins are rather like gremlins. They are invisible, but if one was to reveal itself, it would be a short squat little red skinned humanoid, two feet tall, with long claws and fangs. They live in worlds with computers, and delight in stuffing inboxs with porn spam, mortgage spam, 419 letters and other rubbish. They feed on unprotected e-mail addresses that they find on the Internet. They make deals with people for their souls, promising huge amounts of money-such affected people are known as Spammers. They normally let the Spammers down, but claim their souls anyway.
Major Zinoviev Demons These are many legged Ice Demons, that look like gigantic centipedes made of ice. They can breath freezing breath.
They delight in making ice palaces over many decades.Like most demons they dislike humans but tend to live far away from them in the polar regions. What they eat is unknown. They are very clannish and dislike most other types of demons. The firey type of demon horrify them.Fully grown Zinoviev Demons can be six feet high and up to fifty feet long. -
The Hulan,Those who enforce the will of the Lords of Hell
#8In the lost tounge of Atlos,Hulan means ''Enforcer or executioner.'' These demons work for the great arch fiends themselves. Their job is to punish those lesser demons that grow too big for their boots and turn their backs on those powerful overlords that reign in Hell above. To this end, they are fearsome assasins that are much feared by other kinds of demons.
Each Hulan demon is a 7 foot tall being covered in oval adamantium plates that have been sewn into his leathery green hide. They cannot be ripped off by any physical means, being enchanted to witstand any attempt to pry them off. Only a powerful force of magic can deprive a Hulan of his armor. The twin bull like horns growing from his head are also encased in adamantium to make them deadly weapons if need be,as are the scythe shaped claws that protude from the eight tapering fingers found on each hand. The eight foot long tounge that lolls from the gaping maw of his mouth,is covered with millions of tiny little razors that can strip off the hide of any lesser demon. However,he seldom uses this arsenal of weapons, relying usually on his dazzling skill with his twin blades to polish off his foes. These blades harbor a shred of the essence of the awesome arch demons themselves, making them particularly deadly to other demons. When brought into contact with demon flesh, the powerful presence in the sword blades immediately begin to feed on the twisted malice and evil inherent in the victim, draining the fiend of his life force and leaving him an empty withered corpse. Imps and other lesser demons call these dread blades Ushol, which in Demonspeak means ''Sucking death.''
The Hulan always works alone, seeing no need for help of any kind, having absolute confidence in his ability to carry out the hit his powerful masters have given him. He is silent and swift, dissolving into the shadows to conceal his presence from his unsuspecting quarry. Totally loyal and dedicated,he sees his task as a sacred duty and cannot be bribed or bought off and is impervious to the wiles of those he hunts.
But there is one thing that can defeat him utterly. The Hulan is in truth,a human cultist who has served his demon god with the utmost fidelity in his mortal existance. As a a reward,he has been made an enforcer of the will of his demonic lord. But this means that some thing of human vulnerbility exists in them. If confronted with a sentimental or personal object from their mortal childhood or infancy, they find themselves thinking with yearning of a time when they still knew what it meant to be human. When this happens, their masters, the arch demons, are enraged and devour the souls of their errant servants.
For this reason, the most promising demon worshippers that aspire to become Hulan enforcers, are careful to destroy anything from their past that might pose a threat to their future career in hell. -
Denizens of the Infernal Realms
#9Zayarahausc, the Viles of Salt
Zayarahausc is Bastard Demonspeak, coming from the Demonspeak zhyurhuzhawas'kht, "warrior made from/part of salt" or "salt-warrior".
The Viles of Salt are very, very tall and very, very thin. They have long, narrow limbs and stick-like torsoes. Their faces are similarly long, narrow, distended even. Their stroke legs end in heavy, blunt claws, and their huge, flat hands have curled, claw-like fingers. On their faces they wear wildly-grinning masks of silver inlayed with pearl. On their backs they have huge, delicate, non-functional butterfly wings, in hues of silver, pale blue, and black. But the strangest thing about them is that they are composed, all of them, save their wings, of crusty, shimmering salt.
The Viles of Salt are always thirsty, and they draw water from living beings with even a single brush from their crusty white flesh, dessicating those who are touched. The wind that blows when the great butterfly wings of the Zayarahausc cause walls and buildings to crumble and break, destabilizing structures which have stood for thousands of years. The Viles of Salt greatly love to wrestle, and appreciate it as the sport of gods.
Uyozhiguhyet, the Sea of Pandemonium, is the great foul ocean which stretches across whole deeps and entire walls of the canyons of Hell, covering some of its regions like a thin, oily, rotten skin, a skin that creeps and oozes glacially through the endless mad halls of the demon realm. Where Uyozhiguhyet has flowed, there is left behind great cities and temples built of shining white salt. The beings which emerge from these salt ruins are the Zayarahausc. The Viles of Salt worship the Sea of Pandemonium like a god, and they offer up the dessicated tongues of all those that they kill as prayers to it.
Zayarahausc are always, always thirsty, and gladly guzzle up entire lakes in their unquenchable desire for liquid. However, if submerged in water, they are destroyed, their salt-crystal bones dissolving to a sludgy powder and their wings dissipating into an acidic mist which is useful in creating magical elixers for curing diseases of the throat and lungs.
Zayarahausc will never resist the ancient song called the Jaji Po, which inspires them to stately dances of crumbling, crinkling motions.
Zayarahausc can be summoned by great vats of cool water and by the playing of the Jaji Po, along with, of course, the proper magic incantations and prayers. Zayarahausc can never accept a master who will not wrestle against them, thus, many sorcerors must construct suits to keep in their body's water so that they can wrestle against the Viles of Salt. -
The Lohra,Child snatchers and Sun haters
#10Of all the various demons that exist, the Lohra are easily some of the most and repulsive to behold. Giant toad like things that stand at a height of 5 feet and gaze at everything with those horrid bulging eyes of theirs, they posses no front limbs and keep leaking excretement and other waste matter from a permanently gaping rectum. Sometimes in desperation,,they will attempt to halt the flow with their ribbon shaped adhesive tounges, but soon give it up,realizing that it is a futile endeavour. The only thing one could call remotely refined about them,is the stylish black kimonos they always wear.
This tendency towards refinemment and style, stems from a time when the Lohra were the most beautiful of demon kind. It is a time they remember with both pride and misery, paying tribute to a bygone period when all would gaze in awe at them.
In ages long past,Hurasai,King of the Lohra, upset the mighty demon lord, the Ukuhalrst or Ruler of the Desolate Shore,as he gathered with the other lesser demon lords to pay homage to their mighty overlord. Ukhulrts had just eaten a heavy meal and belched, just as he was about to praise his subject lords and nobles for their loyalty. This embarrassing faux pas was politely ignored by the other subject demon lords, but the waspish tounged Hurasai could not refrain from whispering an impolite joke about the digestive problems of the Lord of the Desolate Shore and whether it had something to do with his famous impotency. Sadly for him,the keen ears of the Lord of the Desolate Shore picked up every mocking word of it. And he was not amused. With a roar that shook the cavernous audience hall to its very foundation,he cursed the arrogant king of the Lohra and his people, transforming them into the mishappen monsters that they now are. Then he cast them from Hell to the mortal relam since thay had shown themselves unfit to reside there any longer.
The Lohra now lurk in streams and rivers, daring not to leave them till the sun sets, for fear its rays will scorch their soft moist hides. When night falls over the earth and smothers everything with its dark embrace, the Lohra hop out of their watery domain and begin calling out to children wandering along the river bank who have lost their way,in the sweet comforting voices of their mothers or grand mothers, tricking the unfortunate youngsters into walking slap bang into their slimy embrace. Village elders and story tellers say that the Lohra are sterile and need to abduct mortal children and use their sorcery to turn them into little Lohra,in order to prevent their race from dying out.
There is one thing that can stop them from doing this to the children they capture, though. The Lohra are extremely partial to rice cakes, once having enjoyed this delicacy in the mad halls of the demon relam. If a Lohra is offered one of these on the condition that he do anything and everything that the giver demands of him,he will greedily agree, heedless of everything but the delicious treat that awaits a mouth and stomach that have been forced to adjust to a tasteless diet of fish and frogs.
Thus,if a Lohra accepts such an offer from a child he abducts,he finds himself compelled to let the child go. He will never break his word, for fear that the sun will know of his treachery and burn his slimy green hide off his flesh, should he attempt such a thing. He is also terrified of fire and loud explosions, squealing and cowering in abject fear if he so much as sees or hears a fire cracker go off. Truly, even a little child could makes this sad excuse for a demon his slave if he wished to. There are many who say that this has actually happened, with smart youngsters owning entire posses of grovelling Lohra slaves. -
Some more minor demons
#11Melonite demons are small demonic animals the size and shape of a watermelon, who have short legs that they can withdraw into their green bodies when not in use. They have small eyes and large fang filled jaws. They prefer to eat prey smaller then themselves but will eat any human that bothers them or mistakes them for a watermelon and tries to eat them.
Gnafer demons are horse sized demonic dogs with glowing red eyes and massive teeth that delight in eating sheep. Unlike many demonic animals, if humans are kind to them, they will befriend them in return. Most humans fear and hate them but a few have become close friends with them and feed them in return for protection and the occasional ride atop them. -
The Crones,collectors of tragedy
#12The Crones are excusively female,a race of wizened demonic hags that compose songs of pain and loss for the Lord of the Desolate Shore. Dressed in ceremonial gold robes, they are the female bards who keep their moody and temperemental master from loosing his temper and murdering half of his subordinates whenever he finds himself in a murderously foul mood.
To satisfy their master who always demands fresh material for the twisted little ballads that soothe him with, they descend to the mortal relam for inspiration. And go about inflicting on it's unfortunate victims the misery and suffering that will provide them with it
A Crone will search for a family that has everything, prosperity, lots of happy children, plenty of love and affection. Then it will proceed to destroy that very family.
It assumes the guise of an elderly cooking lady and will seek employment as a cook with that family it has selected, one in need of someone to prepare their food. While there,it will count the number of family members there and then pilfer an equal amount of rice grains. The rice grains represent the indidviduals it will destroy. One by one, everyone in the family begins to kill themselves shortly after the arrival of the new cook. People who were once happy and content suddenly take their own lives. The Crone accomplishes this by taking the form of the one thing that they fear the most and haunts them wherever they go,till their abused minds can no longer endure this awful torture and they decided to end their own lives.
And as each member of the family falls prey to the curse put on them, the Crone celebrates her victory by popping into her mouth one of the rice grains she has collected. When all of the rice grains are eaten,it means that everyone in the family is dead by their own hands. Then the Crone searches for another family to destroy by appearing at the wake of the last surviving member of the family and selects the most suitable victim from the mourners presesnt by mingling with crowd and learning all about those gathered to pay their respects to the deceased. After four more families have been wiped out in a similar manner to the first one,the Crone returns to Hell, ready to serenade her master with new songs about the pain and anguish of those she has ruined.
The only way to prevent this terrible fate from befalling a family cursed by the Crone,is to recognize the foul thing for what it is and then invite relatives to move in and live in with them. This immediately throws the Crone's calculation of the number of people living in the house, into disarray and the frustarated thing keeps counting everyone over and over again, trying to reconcile the number of people it serves with the number of rice grains it has colllected, unable to belief that it has made a major miscalculation in counting it's victims. Driven mad by this nagging inconsistancy,it finally asks the head of the family how many people there really are in the family. When this happens, the Crone puts itself in the power of the person to whom it's burning question is adressed. The person can promise to give the Crone an answer in return for it doing all that is demanded of the. Of course the answer is never given and the Crone find itself the victim of it's own desire to do others harm. -

#13Splendid Reverse Worker, Master of the Mirror Steppers
Splendid Reverse Worker (who has no name in Demontongue, except for yzch-yzch-yzch, which is the demonic interpretation of the sound of crickets) is a strange and mercurial demon with an uncertain status among the beings of Hell. Often it is seen that it illicits groveling obeisance from the Lord of the Desolate Shore himself, and yet finds itself spat upon by lowly imps clustering in the filthy, steaming streams of hatred and rage which gutter through the floors of Hell. It styles itself the Master of the Mirror Steppers, though it is certain that there are none and have never been any "Mirror Steppers".
This demon is human in proportion and general body. In appearance it is often likened to a human being (male or female, varying) who appears so generic, so normal, that it is certifiably abnormal. No creature could appear so undefined, so anti-unique. Splendid Reverse Worker casts no shadow, and reflects nothing in a mirror except for a curious blank spot which blots out portions of human reflections. None ever describe Splendid Reverse Worker exactly the same, possibly because the only truly memorable part of its appearance is the fact that it is totally immemorable.
Splendid Reverse Worker seems to be manifested ill luck. In its presence everything seems to go wrong- mirrors and glasses shatter, animals fall ill and are injured, tempers flare and depression looms, metal rusts, and a general environment of pure Murphy's Law occurs. This causes the demon considerable amusement, and it often simply stands, chuckling in a watery, eerie way at the damage which its aura causes. It is a supreme jokester, and loves dirty tricks and pranks (though rarely those which are truly dangerous, merely aggravating or damaging to property). It most delights in irony, which is its favorite of all tools- if it can cause an ironic thing to occur it will, having cutpurses stolen from, gossiping housewives chased from their homes by rumors, angry men slain by others gripped by fits of rage.
Splendid Reverse Worker is pleased by the shattering of mirrors in its presence and by beautiful and nubile slave-girls or doe-eyed sculpted slave-boys to be its lovers (generally in the most shocking and obscene of acts in the most public of places). It rarely comes in good time, and often comes long after the fact of its need or usefulness. Sorcerors who use Splendid Reverse Worker must be careful- its poor luck, its tricks, and its sense of irony often do in an unclever master. -
A small but interesting demon
#14The sieka(named for a type of tick found in the wastelands of Acheron) is extremely tiny, barely the size of an ant or ladybug and, due to its bright blue coloring and segmented, mite-like body, it is often taken to be a strange insect. It is not, however, a harmless bug. These tiny creatures usually live alone in tiny burrows until they can find a host body to inhabit. They fly on tiny wings and bite into the flesh of a creature, usually a humanoid or animal. Their teeth are so fine that the bitten creature rarely notices.
Once it has latched on, they begin to burrow into the body, working their way to a vein or artery and from there to an organ. The sieka will then attach itself to the wall of the organ, slowly growing a cucoon and feeding off the blood of the host via small tendrils inserted into the organ's lining. The host has no symptoms to give away its miniscule passenger. The sieka's cucoon slowly grows larger, becoming the size of a golfball, then as large as an ostrich egg. Once it grows to this size, a transformation which takes months or even a couple years, during which the host suffers no ill-effects until near the end, the creature spontaneously bursts from its host, rupturing the organ and exploding through flesh. The sieka then flys away on much stronger wings, the creature now as big as a pair of human fists.
After this metamorphosis, the sieka becomes as a locust, though with a lust for blood, rather than crops. It will seek out others of its kind and then in a massive swarm, they will descend upon an area, wipe it clean of all animal life, then continue to somewhere else. These swarms of sieka are rare, since the creatures don't usually live very long. Peasants and nobles alike know to kill one as soon as they see it, but every few decades, a large population of the sieka will form and leave only ruin and devestation in their wake. -
Narma demons
#15Narma demons are the size of a small child with reddish skin, long legs which it can bounce with up to seven feet in the air, human like hands, and green eyes that have a high chance of putting someone who stares into them in a trance for a few seconds.Which is all the time that the demon needs to bite the person with it's fangs. The bite of this demon brings a feeling of pure happyness. Some who are bitten get addicted to the bite and will befriend the demon and carry out small evil tasks for it.The demon feeds on human evil and grows stronger and larger and far more dangerous, whilst the person becomes far more twisted and evil.A few of these demons have several human minons ready to do their being. -

#16Buzurivambavas, the Scuttling Apothecaries
Buzurivambavas is Bastard Demonspeak, and comes from the true Demonspeak bzhuu'vhambv's, which means "carrying and crawling one", or "one that carries and crawls". They are a subtle kind of demon, and do not exhibit the terrible rage and bloodthirst of some other demons.
The Scuttling Apothecaries are human-like, generally, and around 5 feet tall, and have a hunched, heavy appearance. They have large, round potbellies which hang over their pudgy thighs. They have long, knobbly arms with large, six-fingered hands, and they are extremely bow-legged. Their feet are wide, flat, and have no separate toes. But on their backs, they carry shells like those of ladybugs, which can split open to reveal huge, translucent, and useless wings suitable only for show. These shells, rather than having a black and red pattern, possess the image of a grinning porcelain mask with painted face. Buzurivambavas have stumpy, insectoid heads which are fused into their shoulders and shells, with big compound eyes and snapping jaws. Their human bodies are very hairy. They rarely wear anything more than a kilt of woven reeds, and carry their ingredient and raegent bottles on their belts or hanging from their shells and arms.
Buzurivambavas possess no real fighting capabilities; they are slow, scuttling and trundling of movement, and are easily overturned and slain. They coat the palms of their hands, however, in alchemical greases and pastes, dying them bright colors, and when they touch mortals with these greases, they cause terrible, agonizing alchemical burns.
The Scuttling Apothecaries are solitary wanderers of Hell, nomads who travel Hell's insane wastes and wilds in search of the millions and millions of ingredients detailed in the holy book of the Buzurivambavas, the Orange Book of the Disgusting Gods. The purpose of the Buzurivambavas existence is to gather the ingredients and to create the medicines and alchemical brews which they peddle to their demonic customers. Any alchemical substance which can be made, any medicine which can be fabricated, any miraculous brew which can be produced, has been made and sold by the Buzurivambavas.
All Buzurivambavas are technically vassals of the Infinitely Horrible Vizier of Hell, who tries, but not too hard, to reign them to it's will. However, the Scuttling Apothecaries hate the Vizier, who frequently regards them as delicacies and eats them alive or spitted on their own bones, and they flee from any attempt of his to control them.
Buzurivambas are delighted by new ingredients and raegents which they have not seen before, and love hearing talented poets scream out verses from the Orange Book of the Disgusting Gods under pain of hideous tortures. Sorcerors summon them to procure their incredible talents in alchemy. -

#18Cavasinthas, The Rotting Trees of the Damned
In Bastard Demonspeak, the Demons called Rotting Trees of the Damned are known as cavasinthas, which comes from the Demonspeak khvah'jhazhin's, "ones of dark rot" or "black putrefying ones". Hideous creatures, they stand motionless and filled with intense sorrow at their existence.
Cavasinthas generally stand about 8 feet tall, but range in height. They are human-ish in shape, but not quite humanoid, for they are too unformed, like a tall, thick body whose legs are unseparated and whose head emerges like a column from it's shoulders. Their long, thin arms extend stiffly away from their bodies at bent angles. But generally, an observer is too sickened by the rest of them to be concerned with this body shape. They appear to be composed, entirely, of rot, like hideous trees made from piles of bulbous warts and pustules, masses of stinking veins and webs of clawed, pulpy arteries, crusty, antenna-like extrusions, flacid sheets of muscle that hang, apron-like, bulbous fingers of fungus, long taloned tentacles; the whole creature is slick and shining with slow ebbing, crimson blood. Parts of their long arms are clad in shards of sticky, yellow-dripping bone, and their fingers are long, twisted, irregular things made from flaking, dusty crusted chitin. Where there face should be there is no face, only a simple porcelain funeral mask, smiling stupidly and palely amidst a head of oozing, pustulant horror.
Cavasinthas have no capability to move from beyond where they are planted- their legs are fused together like rotten trunks, and their feet are clawed roots that grip savagely at the ground. When they speak, it is a foul sound, not the sound of a voicebox, but of hideous muscles and impossible organs squelching and splattering together to form words.
The Rotten Trees of the Damned are the children of Tzakhli Boyajh, the Tree With Flowers of Blood, a vast, forsaken god who takes the form of a hideous tree and who rains blood down over the land as it crawls ponderously on giant tentacular roots. The blood splashes to the floors of Hell, and there takes evil root, growing rapidly into the horrible and hideous beings which are the Cavasinthas. Cavasinthas typically are found growing in stands where several drops of Tzakhli Boyajh's blood have spilt, extending arms mournfully and sending forth an outrageous stench of rot and blood. Standing in these Groves of Fear, they share the pain of their existence, which is infinite and incomprehensible to beings who have their innards on the inside, and compose sad and pain-filled prophetic dirges, which they sing out across the madnesses of Hell. They sing of the day when Its Shadowed Resplendency will explode forth through the membrane between life and Hell, and of the day when the sky will fold upon itself and die, and when the Gods will fall ill in a great divine plague and crash down from Heaven to rend the land, and when humanity will cease to be and the world shall finally, in paroxysms of fear and pain and fury, die, die forever, and the pain of the Cavasinthas will be extinguished forevermore.
Cavasinthas possess the power to grow fruit of blood and rot, which, when burst, release horrible diseases which may instantly slay the victim. In addition, they can, if a being is pushed into their surface, envelope and digest any who are inside them. These unfortunates become forever a part of the Tree, and their anguished faces scream out from the Cavasinthas' trunk.
Cavasinthas are never pleased, except by their own destruction and extinguishment. Sorcerors who, for whatever reason, summon the Rotten Trees of the Damned, can appease them and break them to will by promising instant obliteration and release from a life of eternal pain. -

Gahrafahas or the Those Who Descend From the Skies
#21Gahrafahas is Bastard Demonspeak and is derived from ghrazh'fualzh's, true DemonSpeak for ''those who come from the Skies'' or ''the Sky Ones.'' Not a particulalry unsettling name for demons, given their ususally descriptive names. But perhaps very expressive when it comes to describing the arcane and bizzare nature of these fiends that so different from conventional demons.
It is held by the nomads who wander the scorching dunes of great desserts that the Gahrafahas descend to the mortal world in their vast sky chariots to work evil and mischief among mortals, sowing great terror and confusion in their wake.
Depictions of Gahrafahas on camel hide, often show huge, hulking creatures that possess the segmented lower body of a giant worm and a powerful upper body that is somewhat humanoid in appearance. Two pairs of powerful limbs emerge from their chest and are equipped with long fingers that end in cruel talons capable of removing a man's head from his body. Their heads are flattened things that weep a sticky green ooze, while their mouths are gaping maws that are filled with thousands of shredding fangs. The tiny little jewel like red orbs that can be found in large clusters on their navel, are the hungry, watchful eyes that provide them with a multifaceted view of their surroundings. If confronted, they emmit a keen, wailing shriek that paralyzes their prey of foe with a fear so powerful that it turns the very blood in their veins into ice.
They come in small groups during the dead of night, slithering into small villages to empty of people whom they carry off to their gleaming sky chariots. The reason behind these abductions is unknown to mortal kind. Even the old tales are sparse when it comes to shedding light on the true nature of these fiends.
Only the scholars of Hell know the truth. Laboring in their laybrinthine halls of molten fire, the harried scholars of the Infinitely Horrible Vizier of Hell spend long hours writing treasties and tomes on the true nature of the Gahrafahas, all the while careful to avoid taking longer than neccessary to deliver their tomes to the impatient master who would not hesitate for a second to have throw them into the pits of molten fire if he had reason to think that were dwadling.
It is common knowledge that the Vizier is obsesed with discovering all there is to know of the Gharahfahas, sparing no effort to get his claws on anything that can tell him more about these engimatic race of beings that are a mystery even to most denizens of the Infernal Real. What he has learned so far, intrigues him by all accounts.
And he has learned plenty. In the thickest and most extensive tome he has on them,a document that numbers a staggering five thousand sheets of flayed imp hide parchment, resides most of the vast lore he has collected about one of his most favourite interests. From it,one will learn that contrary to popular belief, there are actually two distinct kinds of Gharafahas that exist.
All Gharafahas start out life as balls of wriggling little worm like things that possess no intellect to speak off. Emerging from slimy little pools that dot the barren plains of Hell, they begin their ravenous search for bodies to infest. Upon sensing a suitable body to possess, they simply slither in through the nostrils or other breathing apparatus of their victims and crawl into the skull, where they begin to absorb the brain, accquiring it's intelligence. As this happens, the body actually begins to transform physically, developing into the creature that most think of as the Gharafrash. In truth, the worms that consume the brain of the unfortunate host, devouring his very soul and identity in the process,is the true Gharasfahas, while the corrupted and twisted shell it inhabits,is but a mere vessel that it manipulates using the new consciounsness it has harvested from the brain.
Those worms that pick a host with a limited intellectual capacity, end up becoming the type that is that many mistakenly believe is the only kind of Gharafahas. These being extremely strong and vicious, are grunts and raiders. But if the worms picks a host with great intellect, they change into something else entirely. This second kind of Gharhafahas, are winged, furry things that resemble a cross between a huge bat and a man. The large t blue eyes in their heads radiate intelligence, giving none any doubts about their ability to think. Thus,it comes as no suprise that they are the ones that serve as leaders of the Gharafash, giving orders to their intellectually handicapped breathen.
The Gharafahas can infest any sentient being, but usually avoid doing this to demons for fear of provoking the wrath of the powerful arch fiends that rule Hell. Instead, they descend to the mortal relam and seize humans to be used as hosts for the worms.
Gharafash of both kinds, are obsesed with eviscerating and taking apart animals. Wise village elders know this and buy them off with a small fraction of their herds, ensuring that their villages remain unmolested. -
Amezce Demons
#22Amezce demons come from one of the upper reaches of Hell and some think they are in some way related to the Cavasinthas, although both types of demon deny it and it is unlikely to be true.Amezces are about the size of a human, with fangs and long claws.A rip from one of their claws will cause an infected wound. Their skin colour is gray but for some unknown reason they are normally intensely itchy, so they rip and tear their skin until green blood oozes out of it. The region of Hell they come from is full of sharp lumpy rocks which they often use to scratch against.
Such demons are very grumpy, but there are a few powerful spells that can end the itch and heal their skin.A healed Amezce will be very pleased with the healer and, within reason, will be happy to carry out tasks in return, although they will be hesitant to get into a major battle or do something else that might damage their skin. When healed they do not want to be sent back as their own kind will attack them out of spite.A mage who gives a healed Amezce demon a spell to make him or her look human, will have a demonic friend. -
Negev Demons
#23Negev demons can take the shape of humans or elves. and feed on emotions rather then on meat or vegtables. In their normal form they appear as grey skinned humanoids, with glowing blue eyes and a small mouth that serves for speaking and breathing rather then eating.Instead of arms they have long tentacles, each with three claws on the end which can give a nasty scratch to a human. In combat one tentacle will try and entangle a person's arms whilst the other tries to rip the eyes out. They prefer not to fight without reason, however,as if cut off the tentacles take two weeks to fully regrow.
They feed by pinning a person's arms and placeing their lips on the person's forehead, and without causing physical harm they suck out a person's feelings of love,anger,rage,passion...all the strong feelings. A person drained like that will not regain such feelings for days or even,in some cases, for weeks.
There are people, some of them living in the Crystal City, who willingly allow themselves to be fed upon to remove unwanted feelings, so in some areas these demons are welcome.Others, through their own choice or through bad luck, have to ambush humans, through shape-changing or simple sneaking, to get their food.
When summoning one of these demons,it is best to remain polite at all times and not show any strong positive or negative feelings, as that would be like dangling a bone in front of the jaws of a hungry dog.
If they do get into a fight, these demons prefer to blind rather then kill their opponents, as a warning to those who would harm them.

The Nightmares
#25An exquisite steed, midnight black, treading like a dancer, its step so light that it does not scar the ground, its stride so fluent that you could sit in the saddle all day... if you needed one. Its golden eyes shine with intelligence and spirit, and it seems to know your every wish. Ah, who would not want such a fine beast to carry him?
Attracted to mages like moths to flame, many a nightmare has carried a sorcerer towards adventure or battle, serving him faithfully and nourishing his power.
This sounds almost too good to be true...
And yet, the mages, in their vanity, believe that it isa gift of the universe for them, the only onesfit to ride such noble beasts. Yet still, some avoid black mares, regular and exceptional, like they were pure poison.
Why?
Once, there tread a sorcerer of great power upon the face of the world, and his name was Shawrash, his might and number of followers matched but by his hubris and self-love.
Not enough were garments wovenof sunlight and parades held in his honor, he wanted more, and thus called Arjunoor, the Black Wind of Flaming Winter, from the depths of the Abyss to dohis bidding, and so he spoke: "Demon, bow before my will, and grant me what no other man has..something worthy of my, my greatness, my character... a jewel beyond competition!"
And Arjunoor smiled, pleased, and replied: "That what no man besides you deserves shall be yours, a symbol of your greatness!"
And from a patch of midnight, blood of mages and tyrants' fears he made a steed of unsurpassed beauty and swiftness, nobility beyond the imagination of kings and might of a dozen knights, and she was called Shinaiwe.
Shawrash grew even prouder, for who would fail to see his greatnesswhen such a beast carried him, one that tolerated no one else on its back? A tempest untamed and untameable, serving him? And Shinaiwe was pleased, and whispered words of prase into his ear, and made his power grow, as well as his foolishness. She carriedhim into battle, nourished him with her blood, and, in a human's guise, shared his sheets.
Then, the day came when Shawrash no longer could master the forces he unleashed, and his own sorceryconsumed him, and unmade his soul, his very being. The energy set free swept across the lands, and turned vast expanses into realms of chaos and raw magic.
Shinaiwe strode out of the conflagration unscathed, unbound as ever.
...
So, nightmares, the offspring of Shinaiwe, will seek out mages and offer themselves, as but humble minions and servants. Others will simply pretend to be just an exceptional steed.
They willnourish the mage's power until he overloads and bursts, releasing the energy back into the raw stuff of creation, and take some of that force as their own, use a bit of it to create lesser demon servants and store a bit for ... later use. The rest is free to create something new.
The nightmares reproduce through mating - either with any fantasticequine (unicorn, hippogriff, centaur...) or when shapeshifted, with their 'master'. To bear a child, they must have energy from a previously burst mage within, and this is used up. If the childis male, it will share the father's species, if female - a new nightmare is born...
Theirs are the powers of illusion and shapeshifting, as well as of swiftness and speed.
Also, their reputations for being the minions of Hell is well deserved, as their control over fire magic is exceptional.
The are able to communicate with their master through any mirror, his reflection speaking to him.
Other than that, they are resilient and highly agile.
While any powerful mage could tempt a nightmare to do his bidding, very few possess the reason and will to resist its lure and power, and thus suffer a messy death. -

#26Minor demon, Shadow Biter
A rare creature rarely encountered or summoned, it faintly reminds of a cross between a canine and humanoid made mostly of shadow, little surprise it can hide in shadows perfectly. It delights in the flesh of mortals, but curiously enough, it takes only a bite or few, and leaves the unfortunate alive (as the victim always survives the wound, it cannot be mere accident). They do not consume other flesh than the one they bite off of a living victim. Some sages speculate they are the embodiment or a cursed form of former cannibals.
A shadow biter can be summoned by the offering of the flesh of a humanoid, while it is still a part of the living specimen. It is not sure what intelligence they possess, they seem to understand what is said to them, and can show that they accept a deal. Most often, they are sent to mutilate an enemy, or to "steal" a ring on a hand... hand included. No matter what the deal, they will always take a bite of the person they dealt with. Thus a smart sorcerer lets someone else to make the deal.
Shadow biters are either very intelligent, or have excellent instincts that keep them from harm. They can wait in shadows for decades on a weak moment of their target, or until it dies. Besides other protections from demons, they are held at bay by small puppies, and can't attack a person near them. -

#27Sadah, the patron of games
It is not sure if there is only one, or there are several. Certain is, the creature moves freely in the lands of mortals. Luckily, she is rather benign, maybe not even a demon, but some sort of a malevolent spirit instead... whatever the difference is.
Whatever its shape, it is always a humanoid female of exotic beauty. Frequenting casinos and various gaming locales, she does not seem to want to draw too much attention... but her noble ways, the fine clothes, jewelry and faithful servants betray she is one of the higher classes of society.
Wealthy and mysterious, enjoying the sight of people gambling, she sure does attract the attention of lowest gamblers and nobles alike, and many invite her for a game or two. She refuses most of the offers, saying she only plays for the fun and in friendship. But if it is a friendly game, without money or with low bets only, she will play, and she will win MOST of the games, sometimes with very rare combinations. She does not win all games, but wins enough to make any gamer jealous, and accepts all losses like a true lady.
Evading most private questions with indirect answers, most end up considering her a wife of some wealthy merchant or noble, staying bored at home while her husband always being away for business. And so she stalks the casinos, playing the games a little, and looking at interesting games... side note: she brings luck to those she favours.
If there is friendship between her and a gambler, she will play with him, and sooner or later will a fool insist on playing with at least "imagined" money, to see how it would end up. Winning most games easily, the imagined debts rise to great heights. Soon, all the time in good humour, she would start betting the personal features of the unlucky courtier... "A thousand gold for your charming ways... two thousand for your courtship... five thousand for your hope that never ends" and so on.
Until some day, the gambler is completely indebted with those seemingly meaningless debts, belonging to her with soul and body like the other servants, becoming a slave and personal property. Then perhaps, she will move on to another city, to seek new games and new entertainment, and maybe new servants.
Side note: Sadah is from the Arabic for fortune, but she would of course use many different names over time
---
Storing until processed:
Surely, no one would care if some lowly gambler has vanished...
* Roack laughs evilly
...but if it is a well-known young noble?
Or, hell, a prince even?
Or perhaps someone promised to a marriage to settle an old feud?
well, if they were found to be gambling, maybe they would be glad? Makes for a lot of campaign hooks
What if a player's source of information is enslaved?
Yeah, right.
I was thinking mostly young male gamblers (the most probable prey) but anyone could be it.
MWAHAHAHAHAHA!
* Roack coughs
And of course she wouldn't be just letting her servants leave.
Naturally
Even if they were kidnapped... they BELONG to her.
They would be like without a soul, unless she'd left them go.
makes the prospect of capture very diffucult..
Surely there's an easy way out... just play a game with her.
hehehe
though one wonders, what does she use them for? Just showing off? manual labor?
(Rigging decks in her favor?)
Hmmm...
...serving her, and working like slaves.
As she has to move a lot, her wealth has to be sustained.
It may do wonders for an economy though, if thousands of workers just moved into town...
I think she wouldn't have that many servants.
It takes time to get one, and thousands would be too visible anyway.
I suppose not, but it could giver it a little boost nonetheless
So some are left as personal servants...
and they'd be staying awhile
good point
...a few work for her wealth until they work their hands off. (maybe literally)
Ow.....
* Roack thinks that would hurt.....
Quite simply, until they die.
remind me not to gamble with any rich looking women.....
So there is an evil side to her... only to maintain her noble looks and personal comfort.
I'd put her down in a grey area then I suppose
Well, enslaving people for personal comfort is evil...
...not the most pointed example, but it is.
Not in my book -

Re: Denizens of the Infernal Realms *
#29Telgard, The Worshipping Ones
On his own, a Telgard worships the concept of individuum - to be solitary, resourceful, and hardy. They survive in the wilds, maintaining some contact with civilisation, but mostly staying alone. They are not the greatest fighters among demonkind, but keeping one's wits, withstanding blows and giving no quarter also belongs to a strong individual, so watch out around them.
Being not easy to impress, it is certain a sign of prestige for a demon lord to attract one. Working for someone, they are most useful as hunters and spies. Plus, no one can compliment a lord better than a Telgard, who would literally worship his master and the concept of a servant, comforting him and aiding as possible. The work contract, however, contains a non-working clause for their mating season.
Family
When their mating season begins, the demons put aside their worship of the individual, and start to worship the concept of family. They join in groups of three and together embark on a hunt that will ensure them progeny. While hunting, over the course of three nights they catch a man, a woman, and child. From their bones and a substance secreted after devouring them, they create together a new Telgard.
During this period, their normal demonic abilities are combined, and sharing them, they will help each other out as a family should. Combat with one will be much more harder - they even recover three times faster, and can focus their strength into one. It is suggested therefore to fight the whole 'family' at once, rather than pick one empowered by it.
Curiously, while in this group they cannot harm a family that keeps tightly together.
