   You almost certenly know already.Some idiot filled three of the forums with lesbian porn spam.Is there any way to stop people spamming the site?

   Not if the spammers bother to register manually. We just have to wait for an admin to delete it.

   This is a new one that is cropping up all over the phpBB world. Will see if there is a 'secret' to stop it from happening. Like AG said, if they actually sign up then there is not much we can do.
   
   Last resort is going to the email confirmation thing which spammers would probably not usually do.
   
   I like the freedom of the net. I like ability of anonymous posting and the ability to not have to register to do everything. It annoys me that I have to continuously tighten my grip on the site to stop a few a$$holes.

   The spammer struck again and the delay between his posts suggest that he did so manually, and not through a scripted process.
   
   Can you ban his IP or did he post from different network addresses?

   I didn't get a chance to see what it was. I will post a request for my admins to start collecting IPs and I will add them to the banned list.
   
   I have a couple other things I will do this weekend to make sure it isn't a bot, beyond that though...

   There has been a phpBB update as well to "phpBB 2.0.12 the "Horray for Furrywood" release" so will do that tonight or first thing tomorrow morning. Maybe that has something to do with it because those posts were as "Guest" or "Barbarian Horde" as we like to call them.

    Think I figured it out actually. Went through the forums and double checked the permissions that were set. Some of the newer forums had allowed guests to post, hence the spam which was probably automated now that I know how it happened.
    
    Spam will probably stop now, obviously the upgrade will still get a high priority anyway.

    Rats, didnt see this post to grab IPs before deletion. There were two more of the same sort in the captains Empire section which I removed Just a couple minutes before the date and time of this post.

    I can do many nasty and nefarious things.

    [*] I can ban there IP from ever posting again or, if I am exceptionally annoyed, I can make it seem to them that my website doesn't even exist anymore.
    [*] I paste into a secret thread and stare at it with bad thoughts.
