The introduction of the mainstream VPS has got me drooling. Will add to the list as I feel like browsing.

    eurovps

    Look at this:

We using now on ekali server, with 30 vps exactly 5.8GB RAM actual RAM usage. Rest is cache and buffer. So that means about 6.5GB free RAM.

Please looking now at some other 'top' outputs given here by other customers, and compare. You can quickly see that average VPS count on budget VPS provider servers is 30% higher minimum. You say what will happen if server fail, yes it will be very bad, but what could fail?

    * Processors? Never has happened, if it does we have spares ready
    * Hard Disk? No problem, 2 can fail without problems for data or uptime
    * Power Supplies? No problem, has 2, when 1 fails, instantly SMS is sent to every technician plus resident datacenter tech swaps it
    * RAID card? No problem, has 2nd raid card there, clustered RAID adapters mean even if RAID card fails, absolutely no problem. Even RAID card can be swapped out with IBM Active PCI without powering down machine. Find a generic server that can do that..
    * Network card? No problem, IBM Teaming on network cards, 1 fan fail no effect on uptime
    * Fans? Any and all fans there are hotswappable, no need for downtime
    * Sliding rack rails are there also, so server can be removed from rack to work on without pulling server offline

Anyway this is why I say if you want to sell VPSs or any type of serious hosting, you should be looking at HP Proliant, IBM xSeries, and Dell PowerEdge servers. They are by far the best. All the experienced providers know this well. And again 30 VPS is nothing for machine like this, you can see that from the CPU graph, and also from the output of the 'free' command

My RAM limit for this VPS is 768MB, What should cpuunits be?

cpuunits is not dependent on RAM or vice versa

    Quote:
My hard limit is set to 1500pcs, and many times it is RED and I have problem with it!

    Normal allocation is 5000 pcs

Tell your host to execute #vzcpucheck, ala:

    [root@olympia root]# vzcpucheck
    Current CPU utilization: 227090
    Power of the node: 781118
    [root@olympia root]#

What this says is that node has 781000~ cpuunits available with the processors which it has there. What your host should do, is figure out how many VPSs they planning to run on the server, for example in such a case with 800000 cpuunits it would be acceptable to run certain number of VPSs with 5000, and other higher plans with 7500 or 10000 cpuunits.

To say however that all VPSs should be set only at 1500 units and nothing more sounds like overcommital of node, because as you can see, if you do division between 500000~ which is normal number of cpuunits for average node by 1500, you will see the problem.

    Quote:
My hoster company doesn't accept to set cpuunits limit higher, although they've accepted this "before" ordering!!

    That is unfortunate

    Quote:
They said:"In our case all vps's have 1500 cpu units. So it really doesn't make a difference whether all vps's have 1500 units or 5000 units, it comes down to exactly the same because it's based on a ratio."

What they are saying is somewhat correct, however during periods when more CPU is required for burst such as intense MySQL queries etc, the scheduler will throttle VPSs that are reaching hard limit. You will get better performance on node that is properly configured than such a scenario. Notice that if node has 300000 to 400000 units, and only 120000 are utilized, this is not good scenario for performance of customer VPSs.

Another important question is, do you have cpulimit parameter enabled on your VPS? You can check this in Power Panel easily.

    root@host2 [~]# free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 4029 3999 29 0 256 1250
    -/+ buffers/cache: 2492 1536
    Swap: 8189 3518 4671

!!!!!!! It seems that the server is overloaded!
    What do you think!?

Server is HEAVILY overloaded, you've got 4gb RAM total, 1.5gb cached, and 3.5gb in swap! On a 4gb server you don't want more than 2gb in swap. Tell the provider to move some VPSs off that machine or put you on another cleaner node.
