    Pros:
    Confirmed excellent support
    Cpanel
No initial investment besides the account
Unlimited amount of accounts can be added

    Cons:
Only have 5 different kinds of accounts that can't be changed.

    Pros of other reselling accounts:
(Most of these come under the resellers where you buy 2GB or something and can do what you want with it and only get charged extra if an actual account gets set up)

Unlimited subdomains: For those that don't want their own domain or the bells and whistle we can host them under subdomains just giving them FTP access to their site. Can offer that for cheap.
Unlimited emails: Can offer to just host an email address. (probably never used but it looks good offereing.
Unlimited mailing lists: Can offer to host a mailing list for games or whatever. Can come up with a list of uses.
Unlimited MySQL databases. Can offer to host a forum under a subdomain for cheap as well.
Many allow us to set up our own packages and sell how we want maximizing our webspace and making accounts that target the people we are trying to get.
Can give away free subdomain FTP sites. (I know, bad idea, but think of the advertising and people that will come to see what we offer. We can be very strict about what we offer blah blah.)

I love hostingmatters as a host, but I think I want more freedom with what I do with the accounts.

My suggestion. I think we should start experimenting with some different hosts. Almost all the sites offer a 30 day money back guarantee and we can take advantage of that by signing up for an account with those hosts that offer good reselling. Testing some features, testing their help desk and see if we like them. Give us some more options. A friend here went through a good half dozen sites within a two week period trying to find one that offered what he wanted before he found it so the risk is very minimum.

We should defiantly look into other options for reselling hosts. I commend you on you efforts thus far.

I am totally against hooking up/selling other people a sub domain off our domain. That would put too much of an administrative nightmare on us. If we are going to charge (and someone else pay) then $5/month isn’t much and they can set up their own domain and sub domains.

I like Hosting Matters for now because Strolen has used them and is familiar with them. I am sure that it would not take too long to learn another host. I have not doubt that the learning curve would be quick. That is pretty much all I would admit to “know on the subject.

I really don’t care where we host our resold accounts, so long as the profits are real. I don’t mind breaking even for a little effort or making lots of money for a lot of effort. I am nervous about jumping into a serious money making opportunity (like a dedicated server), where the bulk of the money is out of our pocket in the beginning but we stand to make more in the end. I am more interested in doing this that necessarily doing it right. I realize the might seem weird or silly. I want to learn about the process, I don’t mind doing it right, but a serious effort to make serious money requires serious risk and effort, which I may not be able to give right now.

Strolen and I have given innumerable inputs, usually on opposite or nearly opposite points of view, I only wish that Oliver was here to offer the MUCH NEED third opinion. Oh Oliver where art thou?

I know that where there is a will there is a way. If we start at host A and latter switch to host B, it can be done even with dissimilar account interfaces. I am sure our customers will not like to see the switch. So once we get started, I am going to be difficult to convince that we should switch. If I understand you correctly, you are saying that we should sign up for some dummy account and do a trial run on their interfaces? Do the 30 trails and then cancel it before the 30 days are up. If so then I say we do this organized and all together (ALL). Maybe we plan for a two week period where each of us start a trial account on two or three hosts that we have all found and posted to this forum. The we all start up on or prospective hosts and give each other the account name and password for each account and then post our pros and cons for each of the six or so hosts.

You make perfect sense on this one. It is fun to think about and it is exciting to think about stuff, but when it comes down to it I need something low risk and low maintenance as well. Looking at my schedule and such, if we went dedicated 1) big learning curve. If somebody wants something we have to load it ourselves which means a excellent understanding of linux and if we screw it up it costs us for the others to fix it. 2) Already said it, we have to know linux. We can count on Bob for his knowledge....but so far can we count on Bob :?: ...no offense by you are just not around...

We can look at other reseller plans, there are plenty of good reviews for other sites, but if we just can't find anything, well, we already have a reselling plan already, even if it is not perfect.

The switching might be ugly, we lose customers if we have to I guess. Just have to treat them right and possibly give them the option of staying at the other host. Hell, if we have enough and they cover the expense, doesn't hurt us too much to just keep two accounts to keep them happy. Happy customers is the way to more, that is one thing that is understood.

I got base exercise all week. I am counting on 16+ shifts in a gas mask so don't expect too much from me for this next week.

This week (or next week) I intend to look for reseller accounts and figure out how to resell an account at Rack Space. I watch TechTV when I get a chance, and there are a lot of Rack Space adds, that is why I keep talking about it.

There are a lot of ads => their prices are jacked!

They don't even give the reseller prices on the net, you have to call.
