  1. Authority Levels

((Feel like I am spamming a little, but I have to think the thoughts out loud and here is better than any other place I could think of. Lack of comment means 100% agreement on all my threads ;) ))

Haven't figured out breakdown of how many submissions and how much XP per level. Will default to the stickied thread that has that for now until I get to that point.

Each level automatically inherits anything below it.

Mods and Admins will have a seperate authority key so that their level will not affect their capabilities at all.

Anything listed is what they are allowed to do under that level.

Level 0 Basically anybody not logged in.
    -Browse everywhere
    -Comment

    Level 1 Anybody logged in.
    -Put in submissions
    -Receive XP for comments.
-Edit any comment or submission they authored.
-Favorites List (just a list that can be added to for quick reference)

    Level 2
    -Vote

    Level 3
    -Have own home page.
    -Sandbox

    Level 4
-Challenge submissions (flag them for mod review)

    Level 5
    -Hall of Honor votes
-Suggest Other Submissions (suggest other submissions to use with any submission-list of associated links type thing)

    Level 6
    -Suggest Quest
-Grant Insanity (still thinking about this)
    -Create Insanity
    -Cure Insanity

    Level 7
-Knighting (give extra XP - mostly for outstanding comments)
    -Vote on Challenged Submissions

    Level 8
    -Nominate Golden Submissions
-Warn User (still thinking about a warning point system)

    Level 9
    -Vote on Golden Submissions
    -View Deleted Posts

    Level 10
-Challenge User (all submissions go straight to mod review)

    ==================================
Get what they have with their level plus the following:

Moderators Will have overall power but are nominated on their actions on certain types of categories for the most part. NPC maker from hell so becomes moderator, has power everywhere but expected to concentrate on his/her specialty.
    -Take action on Challenged submissions
-Take submissions out of circulation with or without a Challenge or vote
    -Warn users
-Vote on Golden Submissions no matter what their real level
    -Knighting comments

Admin Has everything..yeah, um, well, everything and...
    -View IP
    -Add/Edit Categories
    -Approve Golden Submissions
    -Add Quest
-A lot more that really doesn't need to be listed because I don't even know what a lot of it will be yet.

Only 10 levels....may extend that and spread out a couple things. But it is a start.

I would like to eliminate comment as a level 0 ability. This prevents some of our issues with annoymous commenters.

But have we had issues with anonymous commenters yet?

Now we will track IPs too but I am unsure of denying that ability yet until forced to.

If it gets bad it takes enough time to cut/copy a authorization to change it.

Biggest reason. We have anonymous user, wants to comment. Can't, ok, registers, makes their comment and then dissappears forever.

Yet another of the dreaded sign up and leaves or signs up and decides he doesn't want to comment anymore.

I would rather them post anonymously and leave then further pollute our user numbers.

The negative is that we may get crap and people can post anonymously. We will advertise that we track IPs now so that anonymous for registered users, well, it will be obvious when we look, and others may not post crap when they know they are logged.

I am still for allowing it....for now, until it does become a problem.

I was thinking instead of calling them "Anonymous" we call them "The Barbarian Hoard" or something.

    Thumbs up :)

I especially like the 'barbarian horde' touch ^^

Agree. Especially since there are places where Anonyms/Barbarians must be able to post - the Bug Reports area for instance.

As for issues that come up now and then, I think annoying anonymous comments can be deleted anytime. Could even make it a Level X right.
