#45Use of magic in Caladin is prohibited and so, you couldn't be a druid in Caladin "freely" without being captured and taken to the city dungeons or killed right on the spot. Magic was made illegal in Caladin for they had read much of history and didn't want what happened to Kasmir, happen to them, but the laws have been loosened a trifle. Though, if a dejy sees you, which is most of the personel on these ships, they will kill you -
Voyage-A joint idea by Beowulf and Maggot
#46Beowulf:Spells like making yourself invisible for a limited time nothing stronger than that or you should be working for one of the new colonies as a priest or a druid of something like that.
Sentinal:Use of magic in Caladin is prohibited and so, you couldn't be a druid in Caladin "freely" without being captured and taken to the city dungeons or killed right on the spot.
Who am I supposed to be listening to? I would really like to play a druid in the new colonies, maybe someone who they meet over there who already lives there(native peoples). -
Expanded
#47Ok this is my profile Expanded
Ok well then i have the perfect person to be
Name:Kitari
Age:136
Race:Demon
Status: Wondering warrior
History:
A young demon thats lost without his family, his swordsman ship is not very good, but his speed is excellent. He has seen his parents die before his eyes, his brothers and sisters have dissapeared in thin air. His friends killed, he has found his way to Caladin. As he looks around he notices the place is quite nice, and he would soon stay here and practrice his swordsman ship, and at the same time open a Bato Jitsu arena, and teach people how to use swords, expecially if they go out into the woods to fing iron ore mines.
Reason for his parents death: His parents died because of a single person who had a grudge against demons. He was not spared in stead a strange power in his body seemed to come to life when he was about to die, in stead, the guy had went crazy and killed him self.
Why does he use swords: He uses swords because when he was a little kid, there used to be so many people useing bows, bows and arows, knives and magic. Only one person he knew used a sword, which was his dad, and because of that, young Kitari is now well trained as a swords man.
Why he ran: He ran for many reason, one of wich is that, no one was left alive, he went out to search for a reason that a power of which he has, is left with him. He wants to start a new life and be left to figure out these things on his own.
Motivation: His motivation for going on this trip, is the smile on his mothers face, before she sacrificed her life to try and destroy the guy behind the killing spree. But in the end, Kitari destroyed the guy not even knowing he did it.
((Is that about ok to the rest of you...I'll add more if you want me to)) -

#52Well,Alec,if you want to be a druid or mage, you can't be with the men from Caladin. You could join the Talaharans though. They probally allow the use of magic, but just to be sure, clarify it with Beowulf. -
Voyage-A joint idea by Beowulf and Maggot
#53Yes thank you Maggot and yes Alec you could be a druid for the Talaharans for they allow magic. -

#54Character
Name: Benedicte de la Courcel
Age: 31
Blood: Human/ dejy
Gender: Male
Background: Born to a wealthy trading family in the Western Port cities, he had a deep love for the sea. He joined a ship as quickly as possible and learned to fight the sea monsters and become a mariner. As he grew up he steadily rose in the ranks until he was a Captian of his own ship. The Hellfire. He loved it so much, he loved it more then his own parents. He traveled around the world and learned much of other cultures, but stayed strictly Dejy in mannerisms and personality. When he reached the ports again, he was told once more to become a commodore. Over a whole fleet that was to explore and colonize new lands. He jumped to it and is now preparing to lead the fleets. -

#57Quick question: Where has it been explained that Caladin has laws against magic? I can't find it in the Settings Forge thread about Caladin. It's just been mentioned in this thread. I'm not trying to argue about the fact, I would just like to know the logistics behind it: Why is magic outlawed? Who enforces this law? Is magic innate to a person when they are born, or can it be learned as any other skill? If it is innate, how often is someone born with magic abilities? Is it extremely rare, or just uncommon? Etc, etc, etc.. I think you can see what I'm getting at. Just let me know. It'll help me with my character creation. -
Voyage-A joint idea by Beowulf and Maggot
#58In The Settings Menu, out of the Setting Forge when I first made Caladin.
Magic was outlawed due to its unpredictability and the laws of history that the Historians of Caladin had learned from reading of ancient texts and finding out what had happened to the Kasmir Empire that was largely magical and that had been destroyed by the gods themselves.
The Militia enforces the law in their region and it is punishable by death whoever is seen practicing it. But the laws have loosened it up, and few pay actual attention to the law, though the Dejy of the west will ceritanly kill anyone who they practicing having their ancestors be slaves to the Kasmir.
Magic in this world is largely innate, and in Caladin it is very rare. The reson for it being so rare is that the ancestors who moved on to the continent some 2,000 years ago, were decendants of moutian folk who had lived in the Anfalas region in the Kark Moutians. They were driven out by the Grey Elves and Dark Elves of the area and they fled east. They have adapted to using no magic seeing no need for it, but just a few do seem to have it. -

Voyage-A joint idea by Beowulf and Maggot
#62Now I know that this is going to piss some folks off, and I know that I have nothing to do with this RP, but I don't think that you should allow Kalabar to play with that character.
If you're going to let him play a character that is a Demon (who are generally presented as horrible monsters, but I guess his is a human with samurai skills?), he should at least do it well, but... Well, I think the character right-up speaks for itself.
And what is with opening up a Bato Jitsu arena?! That just flat out doesn't make sense. First of all, Bato Jitsu is one skill, drawing out your sword really fast; second, in the medieval ages, they did not just build arenas for skills they could NEVER HAVE KNOWN!
Unless Caladin is in Japan, which I doubt.
I thus bid you adieu. -
Voyage-A joint idea by Beowulf and Maggot
#63Okay. KALABAR! Don't add things to my Caladin without my consent, if you can't do that then you can't join! -

#67Sentinel and Beowulf, after much thinking I have decided to come up with a new charrie for the Voyage, one that I feel would be able to give me greater freedom when Rping. He will be an ambitious Snake Rider chief that chooses to ally his small but strong tribe with the forces of Caladin,in the hopes of carving out his own maritime empire for his people. It will take me a week or slightly longer, before I am ready to post it.Thank you for your patience on this matter.
P.S:I will be leaving today for my vacation and will only be back 4 days later. -

Voyage-A joint idea by Beowulf and Maggot
#78I am already. Sorry for my inactivity so I will check out the your charrie. -
Voyage-A joint idea by Beowulf and Maggot
#79I read the character and it will be excellante to use him. Now. Where do we start with this? -
Voyage-A joint idea by Beowulf and Maggot
#80I imagine it beginning at the harbor where the two of us are cheered by the ecstatic crowds gathered there, with the king himself there to wish us luck.During that scene,we would also explain the purpose behind this voyage as well as the fact that our spies planted in Talahar have reported that the two nights ago,the rival fleet had already left. That would make it urgent for us to travel as fast as possible.
Beowulf and Alec meanwhile, the two of them in charge of the rival fleet, would be on the open seas and crowing about their headstart on the morons from Calan.
