Maggot a Moderator?
#1Just trying to figure out why....how?
Not that I overly care, but noticed it. -
Maggot a Moderator?
#2You didn't add him!? :o
I saw it a while ago and thought it odd that I heard nothing of it, but I thought it must just have been because I was away so long, and it had already been discussed. -
Maggot a Moderator?
#3He isn't a bad contributer, but the question is, I think, is he moderating anything?
Oh, and who made him a Mod? -
Maggot a Moderator?
#4Mod of what?!
I was quite confused, until I realized he is mod of his own world thread, as we planned it for the next Citadel. I guess the creator of that thread has simply added him there, which is as it should be. (I think MoonHunter could make the thing clearer.)
Hmmm... well, I guess this is the first debate on a topic we will speak a few more times about in future.
- Will user XYZ be granted an own 'world forum'?
- Will (s)he be made also a Mod of it?
Which are two different questions. And even if we decide it is the same question, we should at least debate it somewhere. And make it public (for us). -

#5Ahhh, I see. Makes sense.
Wonder if there was a way that I can make a distinction between 'real' board moderators and those that have their own thread.
Not sure if I like them being seen as moderators in general vs. those that simply have their own thread.
Although the new site they will have their world thread on the main portion of the site so won't be such a big issue. -

#6Just for the record:
Yesterday I have added Maggot to the 'Moderated Freeform' group, so he can post in that Forum. I think this should not raise any objections.
Or does it? -
Maggot a Moderator?
#7oh, so it was YOU! :)
No objections. Maybe now my roleplay can pick itself up once more :) -
spam with a point.

#9The continuous onslaught of the CTRL-V monster.
 -
ctrl v monster strikes
#10ROWWWWWWRRRR!!!!!
The gnashing of teeth is quite manifest as the large furred form lunges towards the ctrl v keys. Again and Again.
It is just to make the point that people need to post and post more. This place is run on content, so the people who are invested in the site should be setting the example and posting.
Besides the ctrl-v monster is all your fault Strolen. It is all about the post quality baby... I used to do it to pad short posts, now I just do it get a point across. It is so easy and so addictive.... *cue mad giggles*
.....
.....
.....
*kill f/x* Okay that is enough for now.
People need to post damm it. If there was another way I could get them to do it.... I would. -

#11Not to prolong this but.
I think it might be going past the point where it helps now. I saw a CP comment of annoyance and I am sure his feeling is duplicated by others. Starting to grate on me a little bit too, honestly.
I understand and appreciate what it is, but I think one tagline or something in your sig would be enough for a little while to let it cool off a bit.
It is like a banner, works at first but then it is ignored and then people try and figure out ways to block it.
If I had more time I could dedicate myself better to posting to help, hopefully V2.0 and me with a promotion :) will be worth the wait.
The Quest will hopefully provide motivation in V2.0, perhaps we can come up with some other things as well. -

#12Actually The Captain is so easily annoyed that I do not see it as that much of a factor.
Banners in the post. If I had the skills I would make an animated graphic to insert in the bottom of my posts. If I really thought it would work, I would commission someone else to do it.
Stiring the forums from time to time promotes some posts. The occasional bump works as well. Nothing else seems to work.
It is not hard to get new people to post. It is hard to keep them posting. What can we do to promote that? And the last crop of new people has only provided one or two possible gems (and those are not as good as the last crops gems).
These questions really have no right answers. (If we could answer them, we could be web consultants for large sites making millions). We can see if we can find techniques that work for us and our population. -

#13Getting them to continue posting may be aided by the 'levelling' system in Strolen 2.0, if that is still the plan. Until then, I believe you're both right and wrong to an extent. I have Moonhunters bumping banters to thank for one or two ideas that I have posted, but hearing "You must be a good poster! You must be a good poster! You must be a good poster! .... " over again and again is now sort of sickening :P
So I say, do your thing, moon, but in moderation. For example, the citadel tavern barrage you did a while back grated me. ( "You must strive to be a REALLY GOOD POSTER" in three separate threads)
Also, remember that there may be other reasons someone isnt bieng active. Start of feb is the start of the learning year (In australia, at least). I just completed my first year of TAFE (further education). Prior to that, I was getting ready for TAFE. I have it four days a week, plus my job, plus study and plus other things I do, online and off. Im still adjusting to the change in lifestyle.
Others may be in the same boat.
In conclusion:
Motivational barrages work in moderation.
Strolens citadel will never die, even if people seem not to be too active.

CP, don't mind us talking like you aren't there.
CP is a good barometer for things. He is not atypical by any stretch, just has no problem with putting words to his thoughts.
That is a good thing CP, wouldn't have it any other way. -
