The Returner
#1Beowulf was walking into his old home town as he walked his body stood its place and barely moved for he was farely built and had many weapons from his journeys across the world. On his back he had two rune scimitars and on his belt he had several daggers, but what he cherished most of all was his recent discovery The Sword of Aeons. He looked around at the hellish wastelands with awe.
What happened to Talahar?
He asked himself since no one was to be found walking around and the home of Beowulf seemed like a ghost down..dead..and dry. -
The Returner
#2Sentinel had been traveling with Beowulf with some time. Sentinel and Beowulf were old companions and had known each other through wars they had fought together in. He wore black tunic, black pants, and black boots with a dark green cloak and hood that covered his head only a sharp line of a jaw.
"Terrible."
Sentinel said with a raspy voice.
"Where will we go now, Beowulf?" -
The Returner
#3Where else...to find the enemy and coward who had done this to my city.
He snarled as he bent to the ground and sniffed the ashes of the palace.
They were here not to long ago about five minutes ago when this happened.
He said as he pulled his sword out reay for anything to happen.
Ready yourself for the worst old friend.
He said as he glared back to Sentinel and nodded. -
The Returner
#4Sentinel shrugged and made move to his sword. If there was indeed anything out here he would have sensed it. No, whatever had done this had left. He shook his head and looked at Beowulf.
"I think we should follow the trail." -
The Returner
#5Six years of doing my dream and becoming a dragon slayer..I get repayed with somebody burning down my city.
He said as he picked up the trail at his citadel fortress.
Follow me I will show you were these cowards have gone.
He said as he took off running towards the back entrance. -
The Returner
#6He nodded and followed running right behind Beowulf, his hand on the hilt of his sword.
"And what do you expect us to do when we find them? Kill them or capture?"
He said smiling. It was interesting how Beowulf did his interrogations. -
The Returner
#7Both first I'll capture the little bitches and then I'll torture them by making them listen to your horrble accent.
He said as he turned his head and laughed in Sentinel's direction. -
The Returner
#8Sentinel rolled his eyes.
"Let us just find them."
He said as he shook his head. -
The Returner
#9He started laung and then abruptly stopped as he saw a group of wood elves with torches and some women and children from Beowulfs city.
Your people did this.
He said as he turned arund and grabbed him by the shirt lifting him in the air.
Did you send your men to burn down my city?
He asked with rage in his eyes.
And don't lie I can always tell when someone is lying. -
The Returner
#10Sentinel sneered and kicked his feet into the groin of Beowulf doing a high arched back flip he landed silently five feet infront of Beowulf.
"No, you stupid fool." -
The Returner
#11Beowuf laughed as he dogded the attack and was behind him laughing as he kicked him in the back.
Then who?....You are the only wood elf alive that can order the others around.
He said as he put his hand on the hilt of his new sword. -
The Returner
#12"Not Wood Elves, that's for sure. These are my reasons: Wood Elves have lived in peace with humans for as long as anybody could remember; those wood elves happened to pass around here after the attack was over, so they are taking the survivors with them to a safer place, I talked to them just as I got here; and one last simple reason, Wood Elves a simply to honorable to comit such a masacre, just like my kin as well as other Elven realms." he stated. Ahren stood on the roof of a house, overlooking the two. -
The Returner
#13Then who?
He asked not even bothering to look up at him. -
The Returner
#14Sentinel sneered at Beowulf. Sentinel never forgot nor forgave. He would remember a time when he could get back a Beowulf.
"Obviously the thing we have been hunting for days, Beowulf." -
The Returner
#15"May I ask what have you been hunting? It surely must be something large, to create this kind of devastation so quickly," he said, then jumping down. He landed in a crouched position, making not the faintest of sound on the soft grass. He got back up and looked at them. -
The Returner
#16Sentinel nodded and looked at Ahren. Sentinel had studied history of the lands and made it his buisness to know what could do this and that. That, and a few other things, had made him an excellant warrior. Ahren was a wonderful ally and companion, never asking too much and quiet when need. Plus he was an excellant fighter. Beowulf, was a great swordsmen, but sometimes arrogant and loud. Not good if the mission was silence.
"Most likey a demon of ancient times." -
The Returner
#17His eyes narrowed when he said the word demon. "Did you say, demon?" he asked slowly, emphesizing the word 'demon'. Demons were his speciality. The very things he was trained to kill, from the moment he reached the age of 10. -
The Returner
#18He nodded and raised an eyebrow now wondering why Ahren had been trained in such an ancient art of slaying demons.
"Indeed, your specialty." -
The Returner
#19Dragonns and dragon lords.
He said as he pulled his sword hearing something a distance away.
Shhh there over the mountain top and heading for Abasil.
He said as he took off without saying a word. -
The Returner
#20He smiled slightly at Sentinel's comment, the looked after Beowulf. "Follow, or take another plan of action?" he asked, looking back at the Elf. His bladed started glowing now, a broight red in anticipation of what was to come. Even though they were sleathed away in their scabbards on his back, the handles coudl still be seen poking out from behind his back. -
The Returner
#21He lookd back and grinned at Sentinel.
If I wanted to I could be quiter than the both of you put together.
He said as he disappeared into the smoke and fog of the night. -
The Returner
#22He shrugged. For the dragon lords to reach Abasil they would have to move across a sea, that meant for the three of them a boat.
"Indeed."
He sighed rolling his eyes at the arrogance of Beowulf as they started moving after Beowulf -
The Returner
#23You don't remember the undergound paasge we built do you?
Beowulf asked as he turned around and started to run backwards.
Because some people in my city know that. -
The Returner
#24He shrugged.
"You are a dolt, Beowulf. There is no underground passage that was built across the sea. We must sail across, and no, this can't be your city, for as you can see there isn't one."
He said shaking his head. Beowulf showed off too much, it sometimes irritated Sentinel -
The Returner
#25He looked at Sentinel and thought to himself."He thinks he out smarts me all the time and it really gets annoying sometimes but the rest its just funny."
Then why are they heading for the caverns you idiot?
He said mockingly. -
The Returner
#26"Because there is an exit on the other edge that nears the sea where he can move to a port city and sail off." -
The Returner
#27Your wrong I've been down there it doesn't lead out to the sea it leads out near th sawmps on the other side believe me I had to fight my way out.
He said as he quickly turned around with exact footing not even stumbling a little bit and speeding up trying to catch up to them before they reached the other side. -
The Returner
#28he shrugged.
"Then we do not go through the caverns." -
The Returner
#29You meen you don't go through the caverns,I know that they know I'm coming and are setting up an ambush but revenge is sweet.Where are you going?
He said as he stood at the entrance of the cavern. -
The Returner
#30Ahren was simply listening to their conversation, and following them. He did not say a word, this was not the place for intreruptions, though he knew what they were talking about and kept his opinion and knowledge to himself until he was asked for it or until he saw a fit place to say it. -
The Returner
#31He ignored Beowulf for a moment and looked over at Ahren.
"What do you think, Ahren? You have heard both of us, I'm interested in your opinion." -
The Returner
#32"From what I understand, the caverns lead us no where and if the thing we are followins has entered them, then we can easily assume he has set up an ambush in there. Would it not be wiser to reach a costal city before him? he will wait for us in the caverns until he gets tired and realises that we have not followed him in. He will also not know that we are already a long way towards his destination, a costal city, and that we will be waiting for him there. Better to battle this foe on ground of our choosing, not his," he said, looking at them to see if his plan made sense. -
The Returner
#33He laughed a little bit.
Then you guys go to the coastal city and I'll flush him out.
He said raising an eyebrow. -
The Returner
#34Sentinel thought on this proposition. If Beowulf was killed then the beast would come to them, weakened from battle and Ahren and himself fresh for battle; he liked it.
"Fine. Go on ahead, good luck."
He nodded to Beowulf and started going another way towards the coastal cities. -
The Returner
#35Beowulf smiled as he ran down the dark tunnel. His eyes became aware of the surrondings. He looked around cautiously as he moved around the corners holding his sword tight in his grip.
Here little demon creature whatever you are come meet your maker.
He said mockingly as he rounded another corner stepping into a larger under ground cavern. -
The Returner
#36"We must hurry, if we want to make it there before him. But first I must show you one of my tricks given to me when I took up demon slaying" he said, placing his arms together, as if praying. Suddenly, another form strated detaching itself from Ahren and it took but a few seconds for it to take the shape of another Ahren. An exact replica. Each and every piece of hair on his body was exactly like in the original. Ahren placed his hand right through his other self as if it was thin air, then they both crossed their arms. "This is going to proove usefull in buying us some time," they both said, but sound only comming from the real one. -
The Returner
#37He smiled and nodded.
"Many more skills you have. Fine. Let us be gone."
He nodded and started running towards the the coastal cities -
The Returner
#38"Not a skill, a ability given to me when I became a demon hunter." he said. "Ys, let us go," he added as he started walking down the path. His sprinted inside the caverns, in search of Beowulf. -
The Returner
#39Beowulf looked around as he unsheathed his sword carefully, his eyes sharp in a crouch as he heard footsteps coming behind him -
The Returner
#40Sentinel kept on running, though he knew he was far from the cities at any length
