Silly Campaign
#1I have a half-devoloped silly campaign here are some of the aspects of it:
During the adventur, the PCs will come across
THE CAVE OF NO RETURN- Guy Outside Cave Makes You Pay Money To Get In. The cave Has Nothing Of Value In It, so you make no return.
In order to reach their destination, the characters must pass through
THE VALLEY OF FIRE- Filled With Hot Peppers. In order to pass through, the characters have to eat the peppers.
Their destination is THE GREAT TEMPLE OF HOLYNESS AND SUPEREBNESS AND WONDERFULNESS BUILT IN SUCH A LOCATION THAT IT BECAME ABANDONED BECAUSE THE PRIESTS WHO LIVED THERE DIED OF STARVATION SINCE SUPPLIES COULDN'T GET TO THE TEMPLE
Once they reach the temple, they retrieve the HOLEY SWORD OF JUSTICE - Once Belonged To A Great Hero. A Rusty Old Sword with Holes in it.
To fight the BBEG named Iam Dee Villian
Also featuring the The Vorpal Feather Duster of Dustbane.
Then I ran out of ideas..... -

#2And now you know why there are no commercial Zanth games or games built upon the works of Terry Prachet.
It seems like such a fun thing to do, then you try to do it for a while. The games get to be fun and people enjoy it. Unless you're an incredible punster and do a lot of "pre work" to set up these jokes ahead to time, you will never achieve the same level of consistant and sustainable funny that these writers do.
Then your silly campaign falls flat.
So having humerous bits on a regular basis and a tongue in cheek attitude can be a fun addition to a campaign. However basing the campaign around "the Silly" is not very sustainable unless you are a comedy writer. -

#3Sounds like a fun Idea but in moderation. I think it could be better used if you a a semingly crazy person give these silly quests to the adventurers in such a way that they would scoff at them and turn to find othere side quests but if they choose to go on one I think that it should have a valueable treasure at the end. -

#4One way to accomplish such a campaign would be to run it within Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Using elements like the Unseen University, and the "anthropomorphic personifications" of those such as Death, War, The Hogfather(Santa Claus), the Soul Cake Duck(the Easter Bunny) and the toothfairy, you could potentially have a fairly amusing and somewhat silly campaign without trying to use a lot of crazy things that need a lot of excess planning to pull off. -
