    Day 1 my friends.

    Production has started at www.rpgcitadel.com.

The core is up and running, feel free to play with it but don't surprise if it is broken sometimes too.

It has, at its center, most everything we were looking for in V2 so now that I have it up and running and see what it is capable of I am confindent about using it as a very solid start.

The core itself is based on the everything engine so we are already ahead of the ballgame at the onset.

    Good things about it.
-Shoutbox. It is awesome having the chatbox on every page so you can browse and chat without having to bounce around! I think that is great!
-Linking system by is already there and working.
-Comment system is there, just needs modifying.
-"Feature This" link on every post to allow you to push them to the frontpage.
-Has recent content that shows main postings.
-Has recent comments that shows comments. Both set up by author which is interesting.
-Has a bookmark thing to allow you to bookmark submissions.
-Has a homepage available for each user.
-Template system so fairly easy to change the look.

Things I have to work on.
-The comments sort weird and while you can comment on a comment, that causes them to be buried and hard to view them all inline.
-Permission system needs a little work to make it work they way we want.
    -No XP system right now.

Lots of other stuff, basically can view the other thread on what I am going to start working on.

This is it, decision is made, moving forward.

Can't wait to get home and jump into the code!!

I love this. I think the chat is a brilliant idea, as is the "other users" module, but what's best is the fact that you can minimise modules to minimise distracting content.

Do users' pages not count as nodes? I tried to link to but it didn't recognise your existence...

Also, what's going to happen to the much-neglected Album section of the forum? Are we going to have jpeg posting facilities in V2?

I'm going to carry on exploring for a bit, but good work so far!

    ephe!

I think a picture posting area would still be fine.

The real question is whether or not to allow inline pictures with their submissions. Reply to that question in the other thread if you don't mind so it is all kept together.

Thanks for looking at it. Tonight I am going to try and update the user fields. Tomorrow try and figure out the catagory system.

It might be handy to be able to link to the person's name. I will see about that.

    DAMN.

The more I get into it the more I see that the coding style of this is very restrictive. It *is* very module built on classes and plug-ins, but I have to do extensive changes in order to make the categories work that it will probably be easier to start over. He has got classes and included functions all over the place so everything bounces around. While it works, it is too dispersed and not my style at all. I wonder if he knows something I don't? Is it good to code in a maze of function calls through mulitple files scattered all over?

    DAMN

Oh well, we are now at -10% on V2 as I start from scratch.

Will duplicate the cool parts though. Hopefully I will have a running site back up by this evening.

I will be around, but not joining chat

    Hi-ho, hi-ho, its off to work I go. :)
  5. So what is the current rating?

    LOL

Ooops. Lets see, over a year later....

I would go with about 72%.

    1% for the Quest fixes
3% for the ideas/faq/ section which is still dazed and confused and might be removed except for the ideas.
2% to get us over the rest of the bug fixes and tweaks
2% for the Idea Lists that we are messing with

20% for the worlds that is yet to be started

So if we hit 80% we are ready for the transition.

    Current Percentage?

So. When is scheduled date for The Day of Transference, when we shift everything Citadel over en mass? I am assuming then there will be some time for us to categorize everything (a week or so), before the url and final forum switch occurs, and V2 goes Live and Public. (then there will be much transfering of posts from forum to Citadel.... sigh... It is going to be tedious, but we will fill out several categories quickly with the work we have done in the forum.)

I was going to do that already, but I didn't want to have to redo all the Idea Scroll/Codex testing that we have done already.

I am putting the finishing touches on those today (add the request advice condition and locked/open variable) so as soon as that is done and we decide that it might not be perfect, but it is workable, I will clean the database and transfer over everything fresh and we can start categorizing.

Right now, it is sort of waiting on Kate. Wanted to make the full transition with a new theme. Will write her today for an update and see what happens.

Oh, will add 1% just for the sake of movement since I have been accomplishng stuff. Probably gain 2% by the end of the day with Idea Scrolls and something else I pick.

Given CSS idea, where does that put the process?

While I appreciate the advantages of good viewing of Palm Pilot or mobile machine (being the Stolenite that actually looks at the site on a Handspring Treo), I see this as a bump in the process. Are we talking two day, a week, or is this just another way to delay the launch?

On the plus side, it will give us some time to work out those new text pieces.

It won't bust us down but another day or so at the most. Maybe add another day or so to the process.

You are right though, the theme building wasn't accounted for.

So, in light of that oversight, lets us call V2.0 finished with the theme and drop the worlds from that version.

So, add Worlds to your V2.1 checklist and we will give the themes the extra 20% so when we hit 100%, that will be the transition.

I think I will create this percentage announcement to start prepping people for the move.

Today I will start Phase I too. I think we are doing OK with where we are and any more testing we can do with live data and/or clean up any tests we end up doing. So by the end of the day I will make that happen.

Kate hasn't gotten back to me yet about the themes either. Wrote her a couple days ago and again last night. While this isn't unusual (her and I are often bad at replying to each other for some unusual reason) it hasn't given me the warm fuzzy I am looking for.

So, if I don't get her theme by the time I am done with fixing the challenges and golden submission, I will just start CSSing and fixing up the current version to make it solid and if we must, we will just run with that one.
