#1Looking at this as the basis

Site to show organization. Halfway down the pages it has the main sections with subsections.

#2A typhoon evac gave me some time at work. I think I am going to install this engine and play around with it when I get a chance. This one looks the most promising of those I have reviewed.
Still curious of www.drupal.org as well and will install that one to take a look. Has some promising demo sites. http://drupal.org/node/view/1027 -
Maybe I am missing something....
#3I am not sure how you would apply this to the model you want. -

#4Everything is editable.
But I was staring at the clouds today and thinking.... (we don't often get a blue sky and beautiful cumulus clouds, usually just smog, typhoon is making a beautiful sky)
I haven't come around yet but I am starting to think a little more. Will obviously post what my musing produce. -

#5"http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php is the best one I found in my limited searching this morning."
This one requires more memory then I have available. They suggest a min of 16MB and my host only allows a max of 8MB. -

Of course, this will be the first try.

#7The more and more I look, the less and less I like.
Everything has the best of all worlds but it just doesn't do enough. Everything2 is pretty cool, but that is closed source and is a super modified version of the available everything engine. Perl Monks is available but, well, it just seems easier to start one from scratch then it is to study somebody elses code in a language I am just beginning with and then trying to modify it.
I am pretty certain I will be building the site from scratch in PHP. I will use a lot of the everything structure to base my code on but that only goes so far with all the stuff we are wanting. They have a solid system that I can adapt as a basis to start with and then do everything that we want to do with the ability to expand and change in the future.
Been looking and thinking for a long while bouncing back and forth and I think this is the way I am going to go.
I am still going to install the everything engine on another test site so I can see the guts and how it runs and see if I can build on the user interface as well as the underlying code that controls it. Will probably install a couple other of the CMS software to just to see how they manage thing, but Lockmor will be our own little creation. I like being unique anyway.
I am sure Moon knew all this already, but I didn't until yesterday. :) -

#8What do you think of this if implemented a little better?
http://www.softky.com/TreeDoc/index.php3
I thought the idea of it was sort of cool.
My thought on its use is like at the bottom of everything how you can see a bunch of link titles but you don't know what it is....we could have links to other submissions and if they want to view the summary of it they could click on it and the summary would open or they could click on a link that goes to the actual submission.
Just a thought. -

Responsible organized
#12I like this last one. I like the concept of Wiki, but the strengths and advantages of a good set of editors/ moderators. This appears flexible enough to take advantage of wiki-madness, but still allow normal people to find things in there.
Wiki walking, the ability to find just the right thing on a Wiki, is a skill that is rarer that Google-Fu. It is not just that search engine work has been around longer than wikis, wikis inherient random linkage takes more effort to find exactly what you want (if you want is more than one level deep). With a strong structure that is familiar to people (folder organization), people will be able to find what they want more efficiently and still surf. Yahoo believe this, even Google has adapoted categories as well.
Now I have to admit I have not checked all the other engines you have linked to. But I like this one. -

#13I can save you a little trouble, the three prime ones I plan on dissecting and taking the good stuff are
http://seed.spudley.com/lns/
http://wonko.com/infocalypse/
http://wonko.com/poseidon/
infocalypse is based on everything2.
Then I found coWiki and it seems pretty solid so I am going to take a good look at its code and see if it will meet our requirements with some modifications.
Says PHP 5 required and I am running 4.?? but that will probably change soon or I can figure out why it doesn't work.
Looking, looking, looking.
