email not working
#1Hello Everybody,
I tried the email button to send a message to Strolen himself, however time and time again I tried, I got the message "invalid session" once I clicked the submit button.
I have tried this last friday and again today, both days at least twice, but the same message keeps poping up. (Now I decided to send a private message, so the message does get acros) However I was wondering if others have the same problem.
(For kicks: I am using netscape version 7.1)
It could perhaps have something to do with high fence security settings, but I doubt that, since I have no problems on other parts of the site.... (save for the problems mentioned in the "silly pop-up" thread.)
Yours gratefully,

#2Hmmmm, This kind of problem is usually tied to an outgoing mail problem, check your outbox and see if there are any emails pending.
If not, then go to task manager->Performance, if your computer is running at 100% or around there, that might be the problem. -

#3That email script is for the birds. For such a simple thing the forum makes it a little complex, but it needs to be to a point due to all the permissions and such that keeps it somewhat restricted. The few times I have used it I was not impressed.
I sent Ylorea my email address to work it out directly. -

#4Well.... ehhr I just checked my outbox.... it is empty.
I do not have to check my computer it is running at around 5% internal memmory and cpu.... ehhh peaking at a stunning 5% as well. (oke peaks are at around 50%...
It seems strolen knows it all... But if it is this crappy anyway, why not simply remove the email all together? Seems like a more usefull aproach. After all we have PM's and that works fine.

#5Lol, thought you were talking about actual email. I don't see a reason to use the email here, since a pm does about the same thing. -

#6It is too much trouble to remove as it is all intertwined in the board code. Easier to just ignore it and wait for their new version which is a total rewrite of the code. -

#7Hmmmm, how to screw up reality......
I understand your point and had almost gotten to rest with it.... After all, you are right, few people seem to complain about the email option not working and Araith is right, PM does about the same kind of thing.....
The reason why I would use the email option: I want to make sure the message arrives, even if you can not make it to the citadel for a couple of days.
(Silly me, I think if you allow the email button to appear, you have a vaild and used emailadress in your profile)
Oke, but how can I quickly get rid of the email button if I am called strolen.... I just figured: the email button is actualy a image.... What if you remove the button from the server?
Oke, if the button has sizing parameters set in the img html tag, you will see something nasty... (image not loaded icon) but if this sizingstuff is not set, then the button will just default to a 1*1 pixel thingy, that no person in their right mind will see/find/use...

#8I actually found a setting to disable the board email. Problem was that instead of the "email" button going to the web email, it linked to your email address. Me no likey that, no way! Darn spambots.
In order for me to remove the email option I would have to find the button and references to it. If I just removed the graphic I am pretty certain that there is alt="" text to fill in the ghastly missing graphic. I think the ICQ button does this now  occassionly.
phpBB 2.2 is probably coming out by the end of the year and it is an entirely new bulletin board system. Will just wait on that a bit and I am certain all our problems will be taken care of then. -

#9Hi there -
I just received an email notification, that stated that my link was accepted to your site. All is well, I'm very happy.
In fact, I just linked back to SC:
http://www.agyris.net/v3/site/links.asp
However, when I replied (via excite email) I got an error there.
I just wanted to be sure that you knew that I linked back to you.
Thanks much.
