Bug of Disenfranchisement
#1Strolen,
A bug has appeared which I'd not experienced before, and I'm not alone in experiencing now (EchoMirage mentioned that he couldn't vote on things either). When I go to vote on an item, there is no dropdown menu, just a message saying "Thanks for your vote". This happens on items I've never voted for.
Any ideas why that might be happening?

Bug of Disenfranchisement
#3I only got a little bit to look at it and did a few tests and it was working fine on my end. The way the script works is that it simply takes your IP and gets the domain you are using and inputs that into the database along with the short date dd-mm-yy and the id of the item. Whenever you go to view an item it checks the id,date, and domain and if it matches you get the message. Each visit deletes dates prior to the current date.
When I went, nobody had voted that day so hard to see what was going on. My votes were logged and correctly rejected when I visited again.
Saw a comment from another person that they got the same thing as you did so I will look deeper obviously as soon as I get a chance.
Wondering out loud about IP addresses and if the non-static internet connections and the slight possibilities of having the same IP host. Might be that if I went to straight IPs instead of looking up the domain........ -

#4Hmmmm, I know on our network, IP's are distributed automaticaly and so if one of my co-workers also visits here....
Is it not true that some proxy servers actualy mask my real IP and replace it with their IP adress?
Hmmm.... I think I should stay out of this discussion, because my knowledge does not realy reach any further as just the plain rumor that some proxy servers or firewall servers or routers replace the requesting IP with their IP...
Yours,
