The basic races of the 6th world will be the expected ones: Humans, elves, dwarves. For most races, however, there will be NO difference to the stats or other game mechanics. The differences are social, psychological, and political.

The races will be different, but not in ways that readily change the game play. Has anyone ever started an elf character as a juvenile and lost him to old age without an altered lifespan? They don't grow old and die in a conventional sense, but rarely does any adventurer. Death in bed does not figure in to an adventuerer's lifestyle.

Tonight, I must go, but I will make a point of making this thread more active. My personal goal is to add something to it every day. I'll try my best.

There are three types of races, derived from three types of creation. The first, and most familiar are the Humanoids.

Humanoids came from various types of animals. Monkey, sheep, horse, rats and rodents, many types evolved and became upright walking, tool useing, and culture founding beings. All have the same kind of basic features, two legs, females bearing young, two eyes, ears, hands, and so forth. Some have longer faces others run faster or farther than others, some are bigger, some are smaller, but all the differences are basically cosmetic. Humanoids include the races that are most familar: Humans, of course, and dwarves and elves. Other races that represent large portions of the Humanoid population are Vermek, often called rat-men, Perisians, or cat-people, and the Gredis or the flock.

The second type of race are the elementals. Not elementals in the traditional sense, being composed of fire or rock or what have you, these are creature that sprang from the element in question.

Gnomes, short creatures born from the rocks, are an excellent example. While the Humanoid Dwarves are skilled stone workers, bearded, and short in stature, Gnomes are born from rock, meaning they are literally brothers to it, and that relationship is a great advantage. Gnomes can shape stone by hand, as in bare hands, no tools required, although it does take some time. As long as a gnome touches solid stone, it will wake the next morning full healed. Gnomes relationship with stone has it's downsides too. Dwarves can swim every bit as good as any other humanoid, but Gnomes never can, they sink like the stones they are related to. Further, they can't drink water, the gnomes can only have juice, milk, anything fermented, and other liquids.

Other types of elementals, like Nagas, Merfolk, and Scalars can be found populating various areas, but mainly stay where their element is found.

The last of the three races are the Ethereals, beings sprung from magic itself. Born from magic, they defy the laws of nature that bind so much together.

A case in point is the ageless Sagradu. While they live and die like any other, they do not age, not at all, not ever. They can only reproduce at certain times of year, but even then, it is a process of joining and spliting, much like cells on a basic level. The result is a full "grown" Sagradu with a "young" mind. They do not know much of the world or its ways, but their biologic functions are all within their control. Their young mind learns speech quickly and they have an extresive vocabulary withing the first month.

Sagradu reproduction is never a certain thing, when they meet and try to reproduce, they may not grow in number. Some force may be preventing them from over-populating their world.

Other Ethereals include Fae, which are often confused with the Humanoid Elves, and Slides, which can appear as any age at any time.
