Lord of the castle Grandium, constantly seeking quests worthy of him.

Sword of Forokei - encanted sword.

    Appearance
    Height: 6fr 5 inches
    Hair : Long, blonde
    Eyes : Dark blue-grey
Face : Generally normal, with long scar going from his right eye, to his chin
Personality : Generally nice, though has a short fuse when it comes to others being pushed around and insulted.
Clothes : Full plate mail body armour, with a white goat skin cover.
    Age : 23

    Background
When he was a child, he watched helplessley as his always drunk father beat his mother to death. When he was old enough, he brutally murdered his father with a bread knife.
In his teen years he wandered from place to place, seeking quests fit for him, one day, he came across a castle besiged by ork's, single handedly he rode through the ork camp, and slayed every one of the evil beings. When the people of the castle came out, they explained their lord ws killed in the fighting, and they had no one to lead them, they offered to serve him as the lord of the castle. He accepted, and became lord of the castle, but is rarely seen there, instead, he seeks quests for himself, when he is seen there however, it is because the castle is once again in need of help.

Castle besieged by Orcs and "single handedly" killed them all?
Then the thankful people gave him the castle? oh geesh.

I can't even give an opinion to salvage it. You need to read other submissions and figure out how to write a character. First, use common sense and go from there.

Why? Why would you do this to me?

-"Sword of Forokei - encanted sword." And? What does it do? How is it enchanted? You also misspelled "enchanted".
-"In his teen years he wandered from place to place, seeking quests fit for him, one day, he came across a castle besiged by ork's, single handedly he rode through the ork camp, and slayed every one of the evil beings." He just went around looking for quests? Well, anyway, he single-handedly slew every ork? Every ork?! By the way, the word is "slew" not "slayed", and you don't need an apostrophe after the k in "orks".
-"When the people of the castle came out, they explained their lord ws killed in the fighting, and they had no one to lead them, they offered to serve him as the lord of the castle. He accepted, and became lord of the castle, but is rarely seen there, instead, he seeks quests for himself, when he is seen there however, it is because the castle is once again in need of help." Ugh.

Look at some character submissions that don't suck, then make yours.
    1/5.

I won't go on with what they said. They are right. What I want you to think about is the following gold standard.

"Does this character feel like a character in a good fantasy novel. Is it as complete and fleshed out as such a character?"

If the answer is no, then the character is not worth posting (or playing).

I would like to argue about deleting this one... so soon.

It was not an instant delete. It was an eventual delete, a "when we have nothing better to do" kind of delete.

There was potential here. It was a solid one or two star character. The character could of been salvaged (unlike some of the others) and even improved. We could of left it up as an example of what not to do, for a few weeks.

Though, I can understand your newfound zeal for killing questionable characters/ items/ etc, can we given them some time to fix them, review them, etc?

A feature I thought about, was sending auto email notificiations when people comment on a post. That way, when we start commenting on the entry, the person knows it and actually thinks about checking out what we are saying.

Perhaps, but I don't feel guilty about it and I don't really see the potential that you do.

I went to copy and paste a few things from it that defy the chance I see of potential but after I got done reading I don't really see anything salvageable in it anywhere, except perhaps hair color.

Generally, when a submission makes me cringe in embarassment, it is hard for me to not get rid of it.

I want to delete the newest PenDragon one too (I did PM him) but resisted so I will try and keep my hands off of it for a couple weeks

This string of posts have made me think of requiring a mod approval of the submission before they are visible to the public and only allow mods and the submitter to see them till it is approved. But I told myself that once the new site is up we will have the option of not deleting them, but just moving them where they can sit forever if we so desire and the user will always have the option of fixing them or abandoning them. And the fixes then have to be approved by a mod before they make it back to the site.

Will try and increase my patience...but I make no promises.

Oh, and the autoemail when we post on a submission, that is available. I am a 100% opt in type of person so the only way that they will get an email when we comment on their submission is if they turn that on in their main site user control panel.

Maybe on the new site I can add a button to click when submitting that asks "do you want emails when this submission gets a comment" or something like that to press home the fact that that is available.

Isn't there already something like that?

Hehehe. Right next to the guestbook.

    Just kidding.

I think that is what I said though, that we already have the email thing available. I just won't force anybody to get emails, they have to opt-in for them, but maybe I could make that easier for them to do.
