Obsidian Shadow
#1Hello, eveyone. I am called the Obsidian Shadow, Obsidius for short. In reality ,I am a 15 year old teen living in the U.S.A.. This site is extremely interesting, to say the least, full of colorful characters and insane ideas. I like it. One question though; why does CaptainPenguin (love the name) always pounce on typos? -
Obsidian Shadow
#2Yes I do.
Yes...I...Do.
But anyway, how's it going?
Have a gallon of caramel. -
Obsidian Shadow
#3*Pulls a velvet rope, unleashing a trapdoor that releases a gallon of caramel onto Obsidian's head.* -
Obsidian Shadow
#4Mmmmmm Caramel.... You should consider yourself lucky, Obsidius - I never got caramel, grog or even donuts on my entrance! -
Obsidian Shadow
#5Bucket of caramel? Wha..but...who...what...where..why...I'm speechless. Absolutely insane, is what you guys are. ................Ahhhhh, I love this place! -
WHAT!
#6*gives Captain a look of horror* Please don't tell me you're . . .an . . .anime hater! ((You should be careful as to what anime otaku you say "I hate ____(anime name placed there). . . It can cause much chaos. Lol.)) But really. . .You don't seem like the type of guy who'd dislike anime. Why do they make you want to vomit? May I remind you a lot of the wonderful RPGs you might like to play are sometimes made by the same people.
Nice to meet ya Luke. Actually. . .Captain. . . Luke did have a point when he said Back On Topic, because. . .well this is the greeting board of the forum. We sort of went rambling. Of course that does seem normal for this site. Considering how, what else can I say, random it is too, so in a way you're both correct. *Waits for the boot to be thrown at her head.* Sorry couldn't help myself.
Your monkeys are well trained Ria. You should be proud. Lol.
Ellos Obsidius. *Whispers*( He pounces on typos, because he has nothing better to do. Shhh. . .I never told you that.) Actually, probably because he smarter so he knows how to spell everything and typos might just really annoy him. How close am I Captain?
How old are you Captain? Just for an estimation of exactly how much smarter you are than me.
How come I didn't get anything from you except for a lot of typo corrections when I first came Captain? I suddenly feel deprived. Here Shadoweagle have a cookie and a can of Root Beer. We'll feel deprived together. *Snaps open her own can of Root Beer*
I'm NOT insane!!! I'm mentally unstable. Try not to be caught up in our mental problems Obsidius. I think this place will eventually need some normal people. Lol. -
Obsidian Shadow
#7I just don't like those particular animes. I prefer things like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Zeorymer, BioHunter, Lodoss War, Ninja Scrolls, et cetera.
How old am I? Older than you.
"She"?....I thought you were a guy! :? -
Obsidian Shadow
#8*Shadoweagle snatches the cookie greedily and carelessly throws away the root beer. He then promptly turns and begins walking towards a darkened corner, a malicious grin upon his face and hands clasped protectively in a claw-like grip*
WUUAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA got a cookie, cookie now, Strolens citadel later, then the world! The fools! They have no idea with whom they are messing with! Glory! Power! MORE COOKIES! WAAAAAAhahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawww...............
*Shadoweagles ramblings fade off as he makes his way to the corner in the distance and plops down, curls in a ball, and nibbles away at the cookie, periodically giving swift, menacing glances to anyone who may get too close to perhaps steal his cookie!* -
Obsidian Shadow
#9*Chases after Shadoweagle*
GET BACK HERE, YOU BLOODY COOKIE-STEALER, I'LL Get You Someday you bloodymud-sucker and I'll strangle you with your intestines andtear out your spleen and burn it on the Altar of Cthulhu, and then I'llthrow you into the Vast Abyss of B'kzarg, where foul beings from Schoolp willchainsaw whatever is left of you after I continuously beat your corpse with a hot, burning fire poker! That's right you heard me, and I'm not takin' it baaaack....
*Runs off beyond Shadoweagle, seemingly oblivious to having passed him, and explodes into a swirling column of green and black flames, howling like one thousand devils.* -
REAlly?
#10You really thought I was a guy Captain? I guess I didn't say what my gender was did I. I should go fix that. But I don't know very many guys who would use a female rp character. . . actually I don't know any at all. . .oh well. That's sort of funny though. I had that happen a lot when I was a little kid! I was a major tomboy and my mom had my hair cut really short. People would say to my parents "I thought you adopted a GIRL not a boy. Did you change your mind?" *rolls eyes*
Oh good! I'm glad you don't hate all anime. Do you like Cowboy Bebop? I bet you may like Samurai X. It's a little more bloody then what I prefer, but very in depth. Much better then the Rurouni Kenshin series. About the only anime I hate is that one Gundam show where they made all the Gundams chibi style! Yuck! I prefer Gundam Wing A LOT better. I've watched most of Hayao Myazaki's stuff too.
Older than me. Doesn't give me as an exact estimation as I wanted, but okay. You're smarter than me .
*Watches Captain explode and covers here ears at the terrible sound.*
Men and their loud noises! You're all the same!
*Walks up to Shadow* Here have another cookie. *Gives him one of her special home made cookies* Enjoy! -
Obsidian Shadow
#11I didn't say "hate". I don't like the word "hate".
I love Cowboy Bebop! -
Obsidian Shadow
#12Triguns mah fav, then comes Hellsing with a close second, then probably bebop. -
Obsidian Shadow
#13Mmm... Trigun. Cowboy Bebop. Excel Saga. Mmm... -
Obsidian Shadow
#14Cowboy Bebop and Gundam  -
Obsidian Shadow
#15No lika de Gundam! -
Obsidian Shadow
#16Gundam boring, in my opinion. -
Obsidian Shadow
#17I beleive you've got that wrong sanity, guidelines, reality, and imagination are all restrictions to ingenuity  -
Obsidian Shadow
#18psh, imagination isnt a restriction of ingenuity. And lack of sanity will abolish guidelines and reality, anywho. :-) -
Obsidian Shadow
#19Excel Saga. Case in point. -
Obsidian Shadow
#20I cant object to those statements :) -
Obsidian Shadow
#21I rp a female character!
Check out Tavern Party! -
Obsidian Shadow
#22I've been watching lots of Guyver lately...
I rather like Ninja Scroll and Serial Experiments Lain.
I also enjoy Blade of the Immortal, Lone Wolf and Cub, and Amon Saga. -
Obsidian Shadow
#23of all of what you said, captain, I only understood ninja-scroll :P
Unfortunately living both in Australia, and in a smaller city in Australia, means I am quite restricted when it comes to anime. -
Obsidian Shadow
#24DBZ rules! WHOOOOOOOOOO! -
Obsidian Shadow
#25I used to like DBZ, it was the first anime I watched ( I refuse to class pokemon as anime) I don't really enjoy it much anymore, however. It's too repetitive and drawn out.
I still enjoy the old Dragonball, though.
So I'll give DBZ credit for bieng the thing that really got me into anime. -
Obsidian Shadow
#26You better have understood Ninja Scroll.
Vampire Hunter D is what got me into anime. Fist of the North Star as well.
Akira too, but not as much. Ghost in the Shell. All the classics.
Princess Mononoke is a great one too.
I never did go for any of the series although I did try a few Slayers, Serial Experiments, Berser(ker?), and a few others that slip my mind. Anime is cool regardless!! -
Obsidian Shadow
#27Vampire hunter D: Bloodlust is most probably my favourite anime movie.
And Berserk is pretty good, though I've only seen the first two DVD's of it :P -
Obsidian Shadow
#28I really liked Akira and Ghost in the Shell, though they were somewhat similar.
How could you possibly enjoy watching Dragonball Z? Every episode is just a rehash of the previous episode, in which they stand around charging up for their stupidly powerful attacks and howling as their muscles become more defined.
And when they aren't doing that, they fly around and block each other's blocks. -
Huh?
#29You need to classify which Gundam series, because There's like. . . six series in the US and possibly more in Japan.
Personally I like Gundam Wing the Best.
DBZ ROCKS! It's HILARIOUS! It's the perfect example of male stupidity and arrogance, or most of the gender(LOL) made into a show! Sorry, but for over half of the guys I know it's the truth! I know it's pretty sad. I love the show though. But I have to agree with Shadoweagle, Dragonball is better. My fav. character is Piccolo (Go green!) and Vegeta! I cried when Vegeta died in the Buu Saga. I cried sooo bad that it was scary!
Princess Mononoke was really good, but Grave of the Fire Flies has to be the best of Miyazaki's work. It's really really sad though. I watched in complete Japanese no subs and I still was so moved I bawled like a baby, but despite that it is one of the Greatest anime movies Ive ever watched.
Correction to an earlier statement. I know one guy who plays a female rp character. (Good for you.if girls can play guys why cant guys play girls?)
I know how you feel Shadow! I live in the country an hour away from the nearest mall, which is only one story and is so small it's pitiful. It's not a large city, actually it can't really be called a city, so they stock all the crap and that's if they have any at all. The only variety in anime I've seen is in hentai(I remind you I have many guy friends, perverted guy friends.) because there's a larger majority of people who watch it than there is the normal anime. -
Obsidian Shadow
#30Grave of the Fireflies is the saddest anime EVER.
Its ending was one of two times that a game or movie has moved me to tears. The other is when Aeris died in Final Fantasy VII. -
Yes!*tear*
#31It IS the saddest anime EVER! I think I cried for like three hours afterwards. It was a really powerful movie. (For once a man who can admit
One thing that is lucky for me is my best friend is half Japanese and his grandparents send him a lot of anime straight from Japan. Which means:
No crappy voice actors who can't pronounce the names and don't fit the characters. No deleted scenes or episodes! (I hate it when they do that! What really makes me mad is because usually the reason they delete the scenes or episodes is because it has a homosexual scene in it and personally I find that prejudiced, but anyhoo. . . ) The dialogue hasn't been changed so much that it barely resembles what the character was first intended to say. I hate that to. It takes away from some of the shows when they do that, but someone told me that the Japanese are cracking down on this and are basically saying, "If you don't stop doing this so much, we won't give you the anime." not sure if it's true, but that's what I heard.
Though I have to say there is one anime where I prefer the American voice actors to the Japanese and that's in Fuits Basket.("Sometimes it feels like everyone is conspiring to destroy my house"~Shigure) It was really good dubbing (dubing?) in my point of view.
Since we're on the subject: Any of you manga fans?
My favs. are: Fake, Mars, Love Hina, Chobits, and Snow Drop! -
Obsidian Shadow
#32Neon Genesis Evangelion, X, Blade of the Immortal, Lone Wolf and Cub, and Guyver. -
Obsidian Shadow
#33I would say pirates of dark water is prety good. Dragon ball was okay but not DBZ -
Re: Yes!*tear*

All the anime dvds that I have, have the japanese language version in the selection. And I see no reason why that would be any different for america.
But one thing I would like to point out - Some japanese voice actors don't seem to fit with me, either
Also, Bieng oh-so-lazy ;) I prefer not to have to read what people are saying, and thereby missing what is visually happening on-screen.
ah, and The Gundam I saw was Gundam wing, and I did not like it. but then, that IS just my personal preference :P -
Obsidian Shadow
#35I prefer subtitles and Japanese, myself, but many anime DVDs don't provide them. -

Yes the first is true, but the thing is the subs that they put at the bottom aren't always true to what the character is truely saying.
And yes I really agree about the Japanese voice actors, because I can understand why they might want to use older women in the place of teen males for their experience, but I beg of them, choose females who don't sound so obviously female! Yuki's Jpanese voice actor on Fruits Basket is so obviously female it scares me! Not to mention that it annoys the hell out of me. She's a good voice actor, but not for a male character in my opinion. I mean, yes I understand Yuki is supposed to be very feminin(e?)
on the show, but the voice just doesn't fit! They also sometimes use guys that sound like they're at least in their 40's or 50's for a teen's voice.
I don't like having to read the subtitles very much either, but you get used to it. At first I just basically watched the show first and got the gist of what was going on, because you don't really need a language that you aunderstand to understand what's happening. I get manga that's in all Japanese, so it doesn't really bother me. Then I would go back and read the subs if I had to, if I didn't fully understand a scene.
I'd just like to put down here an apology for my long period of silence. I had barely any time to read just posts. And I type slow too. I was hardly on here actually. The rest of this month's going to be busy too. Gr. So I decided to babble now. I can't wait for summer!
