Could we just skip the weekend?
#1That was a joke. Sort of.
I see now some 10 submissions that deserve deleting without a wink, nor with the shot of a repeating bow.
I've heard it before, "We are getting popular, so crap appears too." Are we getting THAT MUCH popular?
We should think of a solution, or at least of some little improvement. Maybe we should write more into the pages where submissions are written, to directly tell people what we expect. Not sure if it helps, or if those "creative talents" will read it at all, but it might be a beginning. -

#2I think it is a waste of effort personally. Just dump them.
If we scare them off....well, good. I don't want that crap. Let them "practice" somewhere else and if they don't even have the common sense to see what is expected...well, too bad.
I am not too worried about alienating a few people. Wouldn't mind doing it all actually. Keep the site quality high and we get high quality. Start leaving the crap and we quickly lose any credibility and/or usefulness.
AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Could we just skip the weekend?
#3I took some extreme liberties. I left the bad ones that had good suggestions but dumped many that were lower then 2 and nobody had anything positive to say.
I feel better now. -

#4I think that we should also make it a point to ... not exactly lecture, but the word escapes me-- the current members about useful comments and constructive criticism. Lately, certain people have been very bad about saying a particular post sucks, but not offering a way to make it better. I can't remember if it was Agar or MoonHunter, but one of the two has already started that. (You get cookie!) I haven't been commenting recently, generally because I can't think of anything useful to say. I would rather no comments get put up, than comments that make us look like elitist snobs. Because we're not. -

#5Moonhunter, totally. I've been just providing backup.
I try to follow the rule: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." , But some of these schmucks don't have any redeeming qualities. Bad spelling, bad grammer, little or no punctuation, plagarised ideas... What can I say that's good?
I usually try to vent my frustration into making new items, but that doesn't always work.
Anyhow, thanks for clearing off some of the trash Strolen, and thank you Moonhunter for showing us the path to the light side of the force. -

#6I feel better now.
Cool. 31 deleted submissions at once... must have been an excellent feeling... I remember how it is to delete one or a few... *phew*.
Good work!
I also say nothing at all, if there is nothing to say about it, I just vote a 1. MoonHunter does it the better way I guess.
Which reminds of Agar's remark (I think). Will we (the admins) have also a vote of zero at our disposal? Maybe it was just a joke, but it seems to me like a good indicator of ready-to-deletion. Some posts don't deserve even that one flame. -

#7If there is nothing to say, I delete it.
But really, if you think admins having a 0 will help, I can do that. If it is that bad then I hope somebody will just take it out of its misery instead of lowering the rating.
I have an easy way to do the reject database now so that will go up with the new site. Those that made us cringe can immediately be deposited to the "needs improvement" portion of the site and an email will be sent to the submitter. These rejects will be viewable only by the person that submitted them and by the admins who can still make comments on them and help them to update them if they wish. Only an admin will be able to send the submission back to the main site though. I don't want tennis matches with annoying people.
...as well as no votes on your own submission (by tracking username), only people logged in will be able to vote while anybody can still comment. Comments will allow you to vote at the same time and show the vote you gave the submission with the comment, but it will not be required. People can vote without commenting, comment without voting, or comment and show the vote. -

#8I don't think we actually need a vote of 0, it was just a joke. Maybe a link to send a PM out to the other admins, marking a piece of crap for reveiw. That way, when we see bad ones, we can all monitor it and see if it is improved. Kind of a "Assemble the Justice League" button. Or Bat-signal.
Maybe a way to keep track of posts we're watching would be handy as well. If it gets votes, track the users or Anynomus votes, maybe IPs, and comments as well. Could be nice admin tool, could be more trouble to code than it's worth. -

#9Hee. Admin signal. -
Could we just skip the weekend?
#10Maybe a bonfire on the south hill? Always have a pile of sticks and tender prepared for an admin signal fire.
Will code what I stated above for now, and if the anonymous comments become a problem I would rather just force registration then bothering to track IPs. -

#11I'll go for the bonfire idea. Just toss on the crappy ideas and light...
