Demons
#1Almost everything on the Sixth World is affected by demons in some way, so I though it would be helpful if you could understand what demons are.
Demons are creatures from another dimesion, they come in all shapes and sizes, varying intelligences and powers, and different diets. All the demons that come into the Sixth World feed of the same kind of thing, emotions, but the kind of emotion they feed on varys. Usually the same kind of demon craves the same kind of emotion, but not every demon wants the same thing, and some of the intelligent species of demons have individual tastes rather than any racially definable want.
While good emotions are emotions, no demon seems to be attracted to them. If anyone knows for sure why, they aren't saying. Some say the 'gods' value or use the positive emotions and so are protecting them, others say the positive emotions don't 'taste' good to the demons, but no one can be sure. But the negative emotions are what draws demons to feed. Pain, anguish, fear, madness, loss, disgust, any strong negative emotion has some kind of demon seeking it.
There are many different kinds of demons, and new ones appear from time to time, but some of the more prominent ones will be discussed below.
The most common and generally weakest kind of demon is the slug, or bloatform. Ususally a slimy, pulsing mass of translucent gray green flesh, they have been observed to manifest in more defined and intelligent forms as they gain power and size. Some of the most powerful have developed heads and faces and psuedopods with specalised tips or surfaces. No bloatform has ever been seen to be agile, so most deal in projectile attacks or psychic or magical attacks. Most bloat forms feed on disgust, but the more powerful ones seem to lust after fear more.
Worms are a reapearing nightmare on the Sixth world. Writhing masses of worms bound in to a tight humanoid form, they feed off fear. They manipulate people to bring them close friends and family to terrorize, ending up with a linage of terror and distraught.
Mites are an evil parasite type of demon. The size of a small mouse, they hide in wait for a sleeping creature. When the time is right, they burrow into the creatures belly and gnaw upon various vital organs. The pain they inflict is what they feed on, but the damage they do often kills the host over a period of weeks. After the first 10 days or so, the pain mostly goes away, but the mite has actually just laid a nest. After a few more days, the nest hatches and 10 to 30 new mites lay upon everything they can cause pain to and the resulting damage is catastrophic.

Demons
#2Despite bargaining with Dragon-Lords for protection wards and sometimes being bound to difficult deals, the underground cities sometimre fell. Around twenty or so cities fell during the apocolypse, but only a handful fell due to outside influence. Most of the cities, it has been discovered, fell due to an insider lowering the wards.
This is incomprensible at first glance, untill more thorough evaluations revealed something interesting. Comparing city records to bodies for identification revealed many couples had been split up and were with other persons when they were murdered. Further investigation revealed almost every family and marital tie had been split, with painful and violent results.
These acts seem to indicate a type of demon now being called a Husk. Husks seem to feed on the sense of loss that comes from being seperated from the ones you love. No one has yet been able to see a Husk in the flesh yet, which leads to three theories on it's appearance.
The first theory is that the Husk has a massive brain and uses telepathy to manipulate and feed on it's prey. The second is that the Husk is ghost-like and ethereal, and can simply find a way through the walls of the ward to feed unchecked and unnoticed. The third theory sounds the most promising and yet disturbing. The Husk may look or be able to look like a normal being, and snuck into the cities before the wards were closed. Once inside, it tore relationships asunder and feasted. Once the food was gone, it simply let itself out.
Untill a Husk is captured or killed, all remains speculation.
