Find all posts be a member
#1Was browsing through the members list looking at what was there and tried to find all the posts by nosferateo of zeus (sp?) and found no post from him.
Are the ideas, items, characters and such not considered posts? I thought perhaps his posts might have been removed for some reason I couldn't guess, but they are still there. Is there another way to view what a member has contirbuted besides looking at the posts or are the plots and such supposed to be included in that and are simply not working at the moment? -

#2The only option available at the moment is to go to each section and sort by author and then go through till you find that author alphabetically listed.
But it brings up a question I have been wrestling with. Here is the dilemma.
The forums and the website are basically two separate entities that I have tied together with the interface and the authentication scheme. It is easier to put stuff in the main pages because those are completely updated by me, the forum is free and supported by the phpBB group. If I start messing with their board, when they have updates for security and/or just plain modifications it is difficult to update and fix or update around my modifications.
My thoughts are this. The forum information page for each user is pretty generic and useless. Because it is part of the forum it will remain. But what I want to do eventually is make the same type of thing for the main site. Using something similar to what the ‘stats’ page is now showing and the allowing the person to click on the authors name and get a better breakdown of their personal submissions. Then there can be any number of options, view all summaries, view only whatever, view comments. All that good stuff.
Will take any thoughts about it though. Not sure at the moment how it is going to be set up, just that I want it. Will tackle that monster when I get to it and take any ideas in the meantime.
Another thing on my long list and it will probably be after the Chopping Cart thingy. -

#3Sounds like a good idea to have a seperate guild page. Could just have a link for all guild posts by a member. It seems that keeping things somewhat seperate makes it more convienent to update, but some kind of interface to cross over between the two would be hepful. -

#4For the most part they keep all their calls the same from each version so once I get the main page status pages up I can pull info from their database and sort of duplicate what the forum member pages look like but still have all my stuff.
Only way to get to it would be from the links I create on the main page. I think changing all the links in the forum would be a project, and one that could be overwritten with a board update. We will see how cool the new user page is, it might be worth it. 8) -

#5Ok, didn't reread the ideas I had before, but I made a new profile on the main Citadel pages. So now when you click on a name you get to see what posts and stuff they did.
Didn't mess with the comments yet...is there a need? Do you want it?
Anything else you want to see on that page?
Different format? or setup?
I was busy when I did it so I made it work, not pretty, but if it is useable then I am happy with it as is and will move on to other stuff. -

#6Don't ask me why or how I got this url (something to do with Mindel), but they seem to be using the same setup as you (php v 2.0)
Any how thing they have that you could have and that I like and think you should do:
Icons by there links (e.g. Faq, Store, Search, Memberlist, etc)
The basic setup of the member profile (this is really well implemented, check it out)

#7He does continue to pop up doesn't he. Reminds me, he asked me for a favor before Christmas that I should follow up on.
"Communities for Women" LOL. Are coming out of some sort of closet?
:D
I dumped all the little graphics on purpose. You know my love form minimalistic type stuff if I can help it.
The profile is MUCH better then the default, DEFINATELY.
Will keep it in mind.
Unfortunately, I have been watching the PhpBB deal and they are going to come out with a new version where I will basically have to start all my hacks all over again. It is going to implement a lot of new stuff to make the board a lot better, and when that happens all of my modifications will dissappear and I will have to start over with the original template yet again. The forums look will forever be changed and updated to a new style using whichever template I decide to use as the basis for my conversion.
Because of that I am not putting any more time into modifying this board. Which reminds me that 2.0.4 is out with some security updates that I need to do.
Once the new board is up then I will start doing the cool stuff like what you just pointed out. Will make a whole new profile page that will incorporate stats from the main site as well as PHP.
No idea goes unresearched
