Decided to start a series of threads on some of the dragon lords and thier domains. So, to begin, we will look at the Dragon-lord Phorse and his domain.

Phorse is a Dragon-lord that has done many things first. He was the first dragon-lord to discover when the dragon-lords are vunerable, the first and only dragon-lord to kill another dragon-lord, the first dragon-lord to raise a city.

Phorse's land is a series of mountains on the continent of Breeden. The mountains have three active volcanoes, and Phorse lives in Mt Chodec, the largest of them. The mountain chain is on the north east corner of Breeden, near the coast, but a valley lies between the mountains and the sea. The land to the southeast of the mountains is a wide plain with many grains and grasses.

    More to come...

The people of Phorse's lands have divided themselves into five countries: Winard, Gret, Dorphen, Sount, and In'nyard.

Winard lies in the coastal valleys on the north eastern shores, and is dotted with springs of mineral waters heated by the proximity to the volcanos. The land is fertile, if cold, and the people hearty. During the long harsh winters, as many Winardians spend thier days smithing as do reading arcane magics, so many of the more skilled enchanters of the realm can be found here.

Sount is on the eastern shores, directly below Winard. A very hilly land, and besieged with more rain than snow, Sount has a great many lochs and valleys filling its boarders. Sheep wander the sodden hills and valleys, providing the Sounters with most thier needs. The many hills and hearty diet have grown many a mighty swordsman here, green face paint clad beserkers wielding overlarge axes and spiked chains.

Dorphen is a heavily forested land in the southwest of Phorse's realm, with great tall trees broken only by large towns. Small villages are lost beneath the leafy cover of oak and pine. Deer and fruit are plentiful and provide many sources of thier crafts and foods, apple and venison pot pie heavily spiced with cinamon being the staple meal. Many lands wish for the fine spears and bows that the red haired Dorphen make.

Gret is on the northwestern span of Phorse's lands. The land is rocky and cold, with few trees and very little else growing over three feet in height. The rocky coast is dotted with mines, as the land has many metals buried within it. Home are more often dug into the mines than on the surface, as the heat of the earth is warmer than the windswept lands above. Despite most of it's people being underground, the Gretians are tall and massive folk, blond and muscular and almost 6 feet tall on average. The many tunnels and natural rock crevasses have given homes to many vermin and snakes, so many, the Gretians have domesicated a type of giant mole. With night vision and great size, but stunted claws, it would quickly perish in the wild, but serves the miners in pulling ore carts laden with rock.

In'nyard is in the center of Phorse's realm, home to all it's volcanos. The land is warm and rich, giving a year long growing season for grains and grasses. Ringed by mountains and volcanoes, the weather in In'nyard rarely becomes as harsh as the surronding lands, leaving most In'yardians who aren't growing crops time to forge or learn the mysteries of magic. Next to Winard, many magicians ply thier craft here.

Although there are five countries in Phorse's lands, they all hail to one capital. In the country of In'nyard lies the city of Meaphis.Once a prosperous smithing town in decline, it became the capital of Phorse's lands after his infuence.

Meaphis lies close to the Greys, a line of granite mountains with rich coal and metal deposits. The closeness of matierials let a great number of smithies work with no worries about depleting any resources, so a city grew on the banks of Lake Ember, using the powers of the Grey and Yellow rivers flowing from the mountains, and the Blood river running out of the lake.

The smithies grew into villages, then towns, then the towns melded into a city. Being of all the same trade, the smiths helped one another with thier forges and formed the Smiths Guild. The miners formed a Miners Guild as well and the other trades needed in a city filled in the rest of the details. The city prospered and grew rich, fought and won wars, and established it's borders.

Not everyone in the guild thought the same way about the same things, so in a dispute about if the Miners guild should be forced to pay for thier tools, a new Smiths guild formed and called itself the Greysmiths, after the mountains. Another disagreement led to another guild, and another, the Miners guild split as well and that lead to several more divisions of the Smiths guilds untill there were 4 Miners guilds and 13 Smith Guilds. The infighting and conflicts grew to physical fighting and one day the fighting grew into what came to be known as the Forge War.

The night of the Forge War, Phorse was seen to fly overhead. Many of the miners and smiths wanted to gain Phorse's favor, and took the sighting as a sign he was backing thier side. All expept one Smith. Jonahs Even had tried to avoid the guild disputes by not joining any of them, and had to pay much more to the miners for his supplies for it, but when the Smith guilds were warring, Jonahs barricaded his doors with a clear concience. When Phorse flew over Mephis, Jonahs' forge was engulfed in flames almost instantly. Onlookers never saw what started the blaze, and no one heard any screaming, so the fire was left to burn itself out.

The giant blaze of fire served to raise the gaurd of all the smith guilds, as each suspected the other of setting it and wanted to keep thier own forges safe. Jonahs' forge burned for 40 days and nights, but then Jonahs emerged from the flames, walked out in the night as the two biggest guilds gathered to fight outside his forge. He raised a magnificent sword to the sky and commanded them to halt of face Phorse's wrath bound into a blade. A few Smiths challenged him anyway, and were cut down quickly, as no blade could pierce Jonahs' new skin.

Under Jonahs' rule, the guilds were disbanded and all answered to his law. He removed any factions and made all smiths and miners accountable for themselves, and gave anyone who felt they had been wronged a mediator for the dispute. Phorse had given Jonahs power to rule and reforge the shattered city into a whole again so they would have the power to fight off a powreful horror that challenged them.

Now the lands of Phorse follow the example of Mephis in In'nyard and bring disputes that cannot be resolved to Jonahs and they are settled. Any city that tries to challenge it's rule has itself corrected by Phorse telling them they're wrong and they need to stop it the value being above ground level.
