Golem Grip Stone Gloves

Stone Gauntlets crafted from the hands of a Stone Golem that are both beneficial and a burden to the user...

95 xp 9,917 views

These "gloves" were crafted from the hands of a discarded Stone Golem by The God of Strength. The Golem belonged to a mortal Wizard who spent his life trying to create the perfect Golem to guard his tower. This particular Golem was his last try. He wasted all his life energy in a long process that perfected the Golem but died soon afterward. Years passed and the Wizards tower was raided, destroyed, and now a City lies where it once stood. One problem was that no one could figure out what to do with the beautifully crafted Golem, so the people of the town safrificed it to The God of Strength by submerging it in the River of Might that is said to be a direct portal to the Realm of Strength. It worked and the Golem's hands were recovered from the river years later but they were hollowed out and could be worn...

Magical Properties:

Anyone who wears the Golem's Hands will recieve the following:
+ A natural "Slam" attack.
+ A decent bonus to any action that requires a good grip.
+ A good bonus to strength.
+ The ability to "Dispel" any magical attack 3/day.
+ Can hold larger weapons.
+ And the hands can "crumble" 1/day and be used as projectiles that return shortly after being thrown or otherwise propelled.(When "Crumble" is used you have access to your normal hands)
and...
- The characters speed is reduced by half.
- The character gains a serious penalty to anything effected by wieght.
- People regard the character as a "Half Golem" because the gauntlets cannot be removed.
- It may become difficult to perform daily activities due to oversized hands (At GM's Discretion).
- Character is affected by spells, ect. that usually only affect objects.
- And the character gets a significant penalty to dextrous activities.

Good posting, but I would like some details explained more.

What do you mean by 'slam' attack? Is that a slap, or a ground pound or a body slam, or something else?

'serious penalty to anything effected by weight' - Does that mean the character can carry less equipment, or is more likely to snap part of an old bridge, or something else?

I also assume these gauntlets cannot be removed and are bonded to the wearer, otherwise, why would the character be considered a half golem? The inability to remove something might be considered by some to be a curse, but you might consider that to be a magical side effect.

    In all, I like it.

    oops...

    - 'Slam Attack' = Using fists to bash opponent (or HULK SMASH!!! as Captain puts it)

    - 'Anything effecting wieght' = Tasks that may be hindered by a heavy load. Such a swimming, climbing, ect.

Thank you. I am also going to add that the Gauntlets cannot be removed.

'Look, you can't come into the King's throneroom unless you take off those ridiculous stone gloves.'

'I'm telling you! I can't take off the gloves! They're part of me!'

'Yeah, right. Get out of this castle.'

I like the item, but I am afraid I won't be able to use it.

I do like the way that you have described the properties at the end, because now I am not stuck with D&D rules that I have to translate into rolemaster without knowing what D&D is.

(I would have also thought that a slam attack is a clear explanation, but appearantly, it is only a D&D type of rule..)

btw Captain... do you think this item also has a effect on inteligence?

    Hmmmm...

...maybe after using it for some time (hard to not use, if you can't put them down), you become slower not only physically!

Cool item. If I may comment on the Rolemaster question on slam.

Just treat them allowing a Huge Bash attack with an OB set to your desire. Given the downsides on the item, a +30 OB may be fine.

The weight penalty would be like carrying 40 lbs of weight (20 lbs per glove).

As this is inorganic matter, this will cause problems for some casters :)

The crumble attack could be a medium bash using thrown spear range.

    Wow...

I cant stop thinking of the possibilities...

    - Intelligence loss.

    - Bridges collapsing.

    - Denied access to certain places.

    Ect, ect, ect...

Heh heh heh... I didnt think of ALL the fun a GM could have with this on a bad day...

I'm not going to be using these in a game, not because I don't like them (I do!) but because my players would hate me after I inflicted all the annoying collateral goofiness that they inspire...
