Chance

A gambler often on the move between towns. Unwittingly in posession of the Deck of Fate.

35 xp 7,420 views

Special Equipment:
Deck of Fate

Appearance:

A traveler wearing good quality clothing with black hair and brown eyes. Not a thief or robber, per se, but a honest yet fortunate gambler. When asked about his name or how he became a gambler he replies 'Yha, with a name like this, I blame my parents.'

Background:

Several years ago, Chance met a traveler in a tavern and, after some drinks and conversation, wound up playing a card game with the traveler with the stakes various items they had in their possesion. Chance won and gained a goodly number of the travelers goods and his deck of cards. Since that day, Chance's life has been an endless adventure, meeting nobles, traveling with companions, eduring hard tasks. When he mets a new aquaintance, he invites them into the same game that he played with that traveler, believing it brings luck. He does not know how right he is.

Roleplaying Notes:

Chance has seen some good times and some bad times, some times he will always treasure and some times he'd rather forget. The unpredictability of the adventuring life that is fueled by his unwitting use of the Deck of Fate is beginning to wear thin for him. Perhaps it is time the deck is passed to a new owner and Chance find himself a nice place to settle down.

Rare mark

Hall of Honour

for Chance

The Hall of Honour is your mark on a submission you believe is frick’n awesome — so good you would jump in front of a dragon’s breath to protect the scroll it is written on.

Bestowing HoH also highlights it on the front of the Citadel for about a day, so others see the recognition it earned.

You may bestow HoH on the same submission up to your level (with a short wait between strikes). Five distinct HoH voters raise a work to Golden.

If Chance was able to play well the the Deck of Fate, then he most likely already has a couple of holdings that he can just choose from :)

He may have figured out the cards have something to do with it and, if he loses a game, he conveniently meets the person and will eventually win the cards back entering himself into another set of 'chance' happenings.

Given how hard it is to get a full house with only three suits, with the full house yeilding a building or such, and how easy it is to get three of a kind, Chance may have a few places that are his to claim, but the properties may fall under the shadow of some ticked off noble.

I might have combined Chance with the Deck that defines him, for there is little beyond that item.

    Still, he is usable.
