Dungeon Crawl Player Request (Currently Open for players)
#1Anyone interested in a RP-light, combat heavy dungeon crawl type adventure? Game system would be 3.5 with some alterations (less emphasis on position and reach).
Let me know if there is any interest here.

Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#2Sounds fun, as long as it doesn't mean you're giving up on Respite. I was actually in the mood for a nice dungeon crawl; I actually pulled out a pad of graph paper, a few moments before reading this, to draw out a dungeon. Count me in! -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#3No, I'm not abandoning Respite - there does seem to be a lull there though. I will continue to post there.
-
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#4Exploring ancient domains of mystery, looting them and killing their inhabitants? I'm all for that. -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#5sounds like fun. kinda like what i'm running right now. And I have LOTS of online time since I don't have a lot to do over the summer at work. -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#6I'm in. Tarlith has similarly become inert. -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#7So - what level will we be, what races and classes can we play? What skills will be useless in this setting? -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#8Okay, I'll start up a proper startup thread.
Unless there are arguments, the same basic rules as for Respite's startup -3rd level, limited book selection (unless you can provide me with the specs, and they are not too wild.)
Roleplaying skills will be less important I suspect - though I suppose anything is possible.
Interactions with the real world - equipment purchases, etc, will be dealt with in summary. Gear will be necessary.
Turns will have a faster turnover then Respite - and so default actions will need to be laid out in more detail - if in doubt, I will use your character's general archtype to determine actions to prevent delays. However, it is unlikely GM posts will come faster then 1 per day.
Death will also be closer in some ways - the setting will be mostly underground and will be quite dangerous.
If the party does not have a good balance of classes, things will not go well for them.

Re: Dungeon Crawl?->The Ruin of Hulathin Player Request
#9The Mound of Hulathin
A maze of shattered masonry, Hulathin was once a jewel in the Empire of Nor?s crown. It was a mighty trade hub before the Great Quake of Bloodyear. By imperial decree the city was abandoned, for such disasters had visited it time and again, and the empire decided to heed the obvious will of the Gods.
For years the empire cordoned off the graveyard of thousands, until the civil war shattered the empire. The garrisons abandoned their posts to return to their homelands, and now the city lay open to the looter?s pick.
A small town supporting the ?recovery? efforts sprung up nearby, and it was there your company formed to harvest the lost treasures of an empire.
The earthquake was divine will, wasn?t it?
4-8! Players for a Play By Post D&D 3.5th Edition Game.
Play will start with 4 confirmed players, with additional being allowed to join as they become available.
Posting:
I will do my d**nest to frequent posts. PCs MUST provide default actions with their characters to let me know how to handle their characters will react if their posts are too slow.
I may take liberties with PC's actions once I understand their PCs but will not place PCs in no-win situations. That will be up to the PCs
Game Mechanics:
D&D 3.5 Edition
Following Books used:
PHB
DMG
Complete Adventurer
Complete Arcane
http://www.d20srd.org/
Others at my discretion.
Stat Generation:
Random Selection- I will generate several sets of stat numbers whose value will remain unknown, you select which one. Once selected, you can arrange as desired.
Starting Level:
3rd
Equipment:
2700gp unrestricted purchase. Somewhat typical D&D world with Boomtown (inflated) prices.
Classes:
Wide open within limits already given on rulebooks. Rogues and Clerics should be present unless appropriate magic items have been purchased in quantity to provide healing and trap detection.
Races:
Subject to negotiation - standard races preferred. Some races on Strolens _may_ be used, requiring negotiation. Since characters start at 3rd level, it is possible that races slightly more powerful than humans may be used. This of course will count against your character levels.
Alignments:
Good or Neutral only.
House Rules:
No Confirmation Roll for Critical hits. They are _supposed_ to be fluky.
Wizards may cast on the fly, but a casting roll against 5+Spell Level will be required, failing will blow a random spell currently memorized at the targeted level.
Backgrounds:
Desirable, but no need to go overboard. Little interaction outside of the dungeon and the local boomtown is likely.

Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#10I'd like to play something rogue-ish; for stats I'd like the set number 3 please. -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#11I'm frequently the defender / striker of my group, so I think I'll try my hand at the mage.
Sorcerer seems more appropriate for combat-oriented gaming. Stat set number 1 please. -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#12Stat set #6 please. Will Scout (from CAdv) be OK? I can provide range support and do some rogue stuff too. -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#13Can I play a) Catfolk from Races of the Wild or b) a dark elf? -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#14I'll need the specs for Drow or Catfolk - don't have them in my rather small 3.5 library.
Sending stats out tonight
-
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#15Drow are in the MM and SRD: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/elf.htm#drow -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#16Catfolk have +4 dex, +2 cha, +1 level adjustment, +1 armor and a base speed of 40, low-light vision, and +2 to Listen and Move Silently. Sneaky! -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#17What classes are taken at this point? im up for pocket healer, or food processor (hack-n-slash). -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#18Both appear open at this point - pick a number from 1 to 10, other then 1,3 &6 and I'll send you your stats
-
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#19Also, you will be a semi-established party, knowing each other to a degree that you would join then in salvaging in the ruined city.
-
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#20Liana

Tall, sinuous and athletic, resembling a black panther, yet with a midnight blue mane, woven into braids. Dresses flashy and stylish, with a feathered hat, cape, tall boots; underneath clothes, he wears a mithral shirt.
A smuggler, brigand, con man and adventurer in equal parts Kardan is a bon vivant, fiercely independent, with a contrived personal code of honor. Concerned with his ego, renown and image, this stray cat can be hard to get along with, yet being light-hearted and generally congenial (he needs the attention) he's quite easy to motivate. What he hates is people who demand authority they have not eaned, and individuals too full of themselves.
Having insulted and robbed the wrong kind of person, he had to leave the center of civilization and head out to adventure.

Tyrin was trained as an elven woodland archer but was always a bit of an odd-man-out among his elven peers. He prefers the dark tunnels of a good ruin and mixed racial company, thought he still carries himself with the pompousness of an elf. Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#30Rogue, Scout and Sorcerer so far.
I could add an NPC if need be - I might clone Gideon (initial version) and use him as a door opener\tank, though he has problems with confined places :)
For reference, Gideon is a half-ogre tank :)
-
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#31almost built - need to figure out bonus spells per day.
then i will buy crap.
then i will post.
im wrapping up my game IRL so things are messy right now.
edit: btw im playing healer. cleric of kord. -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#32Well, I'll frame up the start tonight - unless someone does something really weird, the cleric's spell capacity should be unimportant for at least a couple posts :)
-
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#33Okay, 1st post posted. New players can be worked in fairly easy - they are already known to the party but have been delayed in some manner from joining. Eventually they catch up.
Thruge - 2nd level Fighter (1/2 Ogre) is an NPC who will tank unless you folks don't want him.
-
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#34How will we be dealing with things like arrows, food, and encumbrance?
Since it's a gritty dungeon crawl are these things going to be taken more seriously? Like, will a quiver of arrows be sufficient? Or should I buy five? Food? I noticed no one bought food. And, I don't mean I plan on carrying a ton, but, should we measure out our strength capacities and encumbrance just in case it comes up? I'm fine with whatever you decide, but those are just a few questions I thought of while rounding out my equipment list. -
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#35Ammo and encumbrance certainly will be considered. Not having much food will likely be an issue as well. Though it appears that the equipment lists are missing on a couple of the characters.
I really don't want to dwell too much on food and water, but some encumbrance needs to be devoted to it or it will be an issue.
-
Re: Dungeon Crawl?
#36I believe I sent a complete character sheet, including equipment list, in a PM. Let me know if you need it re-sent. -
Re: Dungeon Crawl Player Request (Currently Open for players)
#37and so of course...
as soon as i commit to and/or start anything, life gets in the way.
If I can be worked in later, that'll be great. BUT please don't count on me.
I have no bathroom for a week (or more) and have to figure out how to pay 800$ or so of bills I wasn't expecting. and b/f got laid off again. so it looks like I get some long hours and heavy headaches for a while.
sorry

Re: Dungeon Crawl Player Request (Currently Open for players)
#38I am still willing to run this should anyone wish to play :)

Re: Dungeon Crawl Player Request (Currently Open for players)
#39Well, my kitten is as ready as ever.
