Youtube is great. Lots of excellent music videos for our perusal. This thread here then is for us to share music that we like. It doesn't have to be our personal favourite songs, just bands and genres we enjoy.

    Format:
    Link: http://www.youtube.com/songURL
    Title: Some Title
    Genre: Some Genre
    Comment: Some comment

    Ok, I will start:

    Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUqs-ZK9nKs
Title: Apoptygma Berzerk - Deep Red
    Genre: EBM (Electronic Body Music)
Comment: I just returned from Athens where I amongst other things watched two concerts with these guys. I even had backstage tickets, but the band was so drunk I went out on town instead. I am not your run of the mill fan I guess. Anyways: Deep Red was what definitely made the concert a success for me. I am not a fan of their newer stuff, but this... this is GREAT!

    Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NfDOuamZF8
Title: In Strict Confidence - Zauberschloss
    Genre: Industrial / Goth
Comment: Not an official video, but I love the song

    Title: The Pixies - Caribou
    Genre: Indie
Comment: The same year as "Where is my mind" enthralled the world (at least the part of the world that heard about the Pixies), Caribou was launched (well, it was actually launched the year before, but nevermind). While not immediately as lovely as "Where is my mind", it is nonetheless a classic.

Title: Welcome To The Black Parade-My Chemical Romance
    Genre: Some Genre
Comment: Addicted to this song like I was with "Where is my mind" - not sure why.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAT48J097nA
Where is my mind? - Pixies.

Funny you brought up the pixies. I just got a new phone and edited the pixies to be my phone ring...then I saw this thread. :)

    Title: Tricky - Excess
    Genre: Trip Hop
Comment: Tricky and Massive Attack are my favourite trip hopsters!

Strolen: Your first song reminds somewhat of Queen vs. Green Day or something. It was catchy.

Title: The Killers - "Somebody Told Me"
    Genre: Some Genre
Comment: A song off of one of the few albums of which I like all the songs.
  6. Re: The Youtubian Music Exchange

    Title: 2Raumwohnung - Spiel mit
    Genre: German Electro-pop
Comment: I want to marry Inga Humpe! Love her voice!

    Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMzQwMAEkTE
    Title: Rammstein - Sonne
Genre: Tanzmetal (Dance Metal, a genre Rammstein themselves claim to belong to :))
Comment: Their concerts are awesome. Pyrotechnics galore. Even people who do not like Rammstein attend their concerts to see the fireworks. Even from 70-100 meters away your face nearly melts from the heat of their flamethrowers. Just like most people know the Pixies from "Fight Club", Rammstein gained fame from their soundtracks in "The Matrix" and "xXx".

Title: Flogging Molly - Screaming at the Wailing Wall
    Genre:Celtic Punk ... or something? :)
Comment: This has been my running music for years. Found them when I was in Japan and have been addicted ever since. Another of the few where I can listen to the entire album over and over and over...

Comment: They have lots, but the music is catchy in this one.

(thanks for the link correction AG! Copy and paste gremils)

    Errate for Strolen's last post:
    The correct link is:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-64CaD8GXw

And I think valadaar has a point concerning German and Metal. The same goes for Irish and punk, methinks :)

Perhaps Swedish would fit porn music? Hahaha!

    *Hides from the Swedish-Strolenites*

    Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVXt2i2Aois
    Title: :wumpscut: - Thorns
    Genre: Electronica / Industrial
Comments: Most of their stuff is dark and depressive, but this should be okay for most Strolenites I'd think. Semi-medieval electronica.
  15. Re: The Youtubian Music Exchange

    Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sgMjyy7G6w

*shakes fist at AG* :) You've sent me on a long search after hearing this oldie...

    Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8K1InOOLEsQ
Title: Luis Prima - Just A Gigolo
    Genre: jazz
Comment: completely aside, this was sung by Robert de Niro in 'Mad Dog and Glory', and it worked

    Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYSbUOoq4Vg
Title: Nina Simone - My Baby Just Cares For Me
    Genre: jazz
Comment: never seen the video or the singer before, so a bit surprised, but the piano play is just excellent

Qntal, one of my favourite bands - tender medieval electronic, and the lady's voice... just surreal.
And they sing in ancient german. and latin. and stuff.
Sadly, they have quite few clips.

Listened some to Qntal and time passed. Then, while listening to some SHOUTcast web radio, they began playing "Lasse" and it hit me: They do indeed rock!

And now for something more... female. :)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWrNCCx2p5U
Feist - My Moon My Man

Seen it today the first time. A whimsical little video with a song that has a tendency to stay on your mind. In case you need some light fare after all that rock and goth-doom metal!
  27. Re: The Youtubian Music Exchange

While we're on the subject of more female, try these.

    Title: Fully Alive - Flyleaf
    Genre: Rock
Comment: Video fits the song perfectly. I like it as a pure video in and of itself too. Very nicely done.

Title: I'm So Sick - Flyleaf
    Genre: Rock/Metal
Comment: Beware the first few seconds, it'll blow out your eardrums? Seriously though, that sound from that body just doesn't make sense, even with electronic enhancement.
